ASEAN Club Championship
The ASEAN Club Championship or ACC is an international club football competition organised by the ASEAN Football Federation between domestic champion clubs. The competition is backed by AFC and FIFA. The first edition was sponsored by LG Electronics, which was also known as LG Cup Asean Club Football Championship. Qualification to the competition was for champions clubs from AFF-affiliated countries only, plus the champions from India in 2003. History The ASEAN Club Championship was first held as biannual tournament in 2003 and 2005, but failed to gain traction due to lack of sponsors and conflict with the main calendar of the Asian Football Confederation. Plans to revive the tournament started as early as 2012. The tournament was to return in 2020, but the tournament was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but later postponed to 2022 and later cancelled. ASEAN Football Federation
The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) is an organisation within the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and is an international governing body of association football in Southeast Asia. It consists of the federations of Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Despite using "ASEAN" in its name, the AFF is not affiliated with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. 2005 ASEAN Club Championship
The 2005 ASEAN Club Championship or the 2005 ACC was the second edition of the ASEAN Club Championship, an international association football competition between domestic champion clubs sides affiliated with the member associations of the ASEAN Football Federation. This year, Tampines Rovers FC from Singapore won the championship. The champions of Liga Indonesia (Persebaya Surabaya) apparently did not enter due to a congested fixture list ( AFC Champions League, Liga Indonesia and Indonesian Cup). The champions of Laos ( MCTPC, aka Telecom and Transportation) and the champions of Philippines (National Capital Region FA) presumably renounced on participation for financial reasons. Finance and Revenue Football Club (often shortened as F&R FC), currently known as Mountain Lion FC, and formerly known as Rangoon Customs, is a Burmese professional football club operated by the Ministry of Finance and Revenue of Myanmar. The club is the most successful club in the history of the now defunct Burmese top-division football league. They won a total of 17 Burma First Division championships prior to 1996, and 9 Myanmar Premier League championships between 1996 and 2008. The club completed its dominance in the last edition of First Division football in 2009 by winning the Myanmar Premier League Cup 2009.
