The 2025 Rugby World Cup will be the tenth edition of the women's Rugby World Cup, as organized by World Rugby. It is scheduled to be held in England. It will be the second women's Rugby Union World Cup to be hosted by England, after the 2010 edition. It will be the fifth hosted in the British Isles. The tournament will be expanded to 16 teams, from the 12 which participated in 2021. New Zealand enter the tournament as defending champions following their victory against a 14-player England in the 2021 Rugby World Cup Final. Host selection On 13 August 2020 World Rugby announced that the hosting rights to the next two world cups, men and women's, would be selected during the same process. The 2021 Rugby World Cup was the ninth staging of the women's Rugby World Cup, as organised by World Rugby. It was held from 8 October to 12 November 2022 in Auckland and Whangārei, New Zealand. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2021, but was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first women's Rugby World Cup to be hosted by New Zealand, and by a country in the Southern Hemisphere. New Zealand were also the defending champions. The 2031 Rugby World Cup is scheduled to be the twelfth edition of the Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's rugby union teams. It is scheduled to take place in the United States, tentatively from September to October of 2031. This will be the first time the tournament is held in the Americas.
