The 2024–25 FA Cup is the 144th season of the Football Association Challenge Cup, the oldest football tournament in the world. It is sponsored by Emirates and known as the Emirates FA Cup for sponsorship purposes. The FA Cup is the main domestic cup competition for men's football teams in England. The qualifying competition will begin on 3 August 2024, with the tournament proper starting on 2 November 2024. The final will be played at Wembley Stadium, London, on 17 May 2025. Teams The FA Cup is a knockout competition with 124 teams taking part from the first round proper, and all trying to reach the final at Wembley Stadium on 25 May 2024. The competition consists of the 92 teams from the Football League system (20 teams from the Premier League and the 72 in total from the EFL Championship, EFL League One and EFL League Two) plus the 32 surviving teams out of 653 teams from the National League System that will start the competition in the qualifying rounds. 2024–25 FA Cup Qualifying Rounds
The 2024–25 FA Cup qualifying rounds will open the 144th edition of the FA Cup, the world's oldest association football single knockout competition, organised by The Football Association, the governing body for the sport in England. 653 teams in the 5th to 9th tier of English football will compete across six rounds for 32 spots in the First round proper. Eligibility The number of teams entered rose from 732 to 745, reflecting the growth of the 9th tier. 653 teams, all those from below the English Football League, entered into the qualifying competition. The increase in the size of the 9th tier meant that teams from 10th tier were no longer accepted into the competition. FA Community Shield
The Football Association Community Shield (formerly the Charity Shield) is English football's annual match contested at Wembley Stadium between the champions of the previous Premier League season and the holders of the FA Cup. If the Premier League champions also won the FA Cup, then the league runners-up provide the opposition. The fixture is recognised as a competitive super cup by The Football Association and UEFA. Organised by the FA, proceeds from the game are distributed to community initiatives and charities around the country.
