Fano (militia)
Fano ( am, ፋኖ), also FANO or Fanno, is an Amhara militia. One stated objective of Fano leadership as of March 2020 was for Benishangul-Gumuz Region's Metekel Zone, the districts of Welkait and Raya in the Tigray Region, and the district of Dera in Oromia to be placed under the control of the Amhara Region. During the Tigray conflict, Fano supported federal and Amhara regional forces against rebels aligned to the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF). Millennium Hall (Amharic: ሚሌኒየም አዳራሽ) is a venue located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Built in 2006 by Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al Amoudi, it is a multi-purpose facility hosting variety events, including conferences, cultural performance and religious gatherings. Meki ( am, መቂ; om, Maqii) is a town in east-central Ethiopia. Located in the East Shewa Zone of the Oromia Region, it has a latitude and longitude of with an elevation of 1636 meters above sea level. The Oromo Liberation Front ( om, Adda Bilisummaa Oromoo, abbreviated: ABO; English abbreviation: OLF) is an Oromo nationalist political party formed in 1973 to promote self-determination for the Oromo people inhabiting today's Oromia Region and Oromia Zone in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Bate Urgessa
Bate Urgessa (1982/1983 – 10 April 2024) was an Ethiopian politician who was Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) opposition leader and critic of the incumbent Abiy Ahmed government. He has been jailed on several occasions. He was assassinated by gunshot in Meki, Oromia Region on 10 April 2024. Death Urgessa was shot dead in Meki, East Shewa Zone in Oromia Region on 10 April 2024. His death met with public outrage on social media. Family members told '' Addis Standard'', people who "looked like government security forces" took him from his hotel room on Tuesday night. 2024 Commercial Bank Of Ethiopia Glitch Incident
On 15 March 2024, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) reported having glitching issues between 12 a.m. and 3 a.m. Customers were able to withdraw large amounts of cash (more than 40 million dollars) not deposited in their accounts, and were able to make unlimited ATM withdrawals. After circulated in social media, CBE released five notes within less than 24 hours, explaining the systematic failure in its branch services. CBE President Abe Sano warned customers to return money saying "those who do not return money that is not theirs will be prosecuted". On 26 March, CBE announced that about $14 million recovered.
