2024 OFC Men's Nations Cup
The 2024 OFC Men's Nations Cup was the 11th edition of the OFC Men's Nations Cup, the quadrennial international men's Association football, football championship of Oceania organised by the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC). The tournament was played between 15 and 30 June 2024 in Fiji and Vanuatu. The defending champions were New Zealand men's national football team, New Zealand from the 2016 OFC Nations Cup, 2016 edition; the 2020 OFC Nations Cup, 2020 edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Oceania, COVID-19 pandemic. New Caledonia national football team, New Caledonia withdrew a few days before the start of the competition 2024 New Caledonia unrest, citing riots in the country, and the tournament played with seven teams. Roy Krishna
Roy Christopher Krishna (born 30 August 1987) is a Fijian professional Association football, footballer who plays as a Forward (association football)#Striker, striker and Captain (association football), captains the Fiji national football team, Fiji national team. He is the most-Cap (association football), capped and List of top international men's football goalscorers by country, highest-scoring Fijian footballer of all time. In 2022, he became the first player to reach 50 caps for the Fiji national team. Early life Krishna was born on 30 August 1987 in the village of Siberia, Labasa to Bal and Sarita Krishna. 2024 OFC Men's Nations Cup Group B
Group B of the 2024 OFC Men's Nations Cup took take place from 16 to 22 June 2024. The group consisted of Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tahiti and the qualifying winner. Originally due to take place at the Luganville Soccer Stadium in Luganville, Vanuatu, all six group matches were moved to the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, Fiji over uncertainty around flight schedules. Freshwater Stadium
The Freshwater Stadium is an association football stadium in Port Vila, the capital of Vanuatu. The stadium has a seating capacity of 6,500. History In 2018 it was announced that FIFA would be financing a new football stadium in Vanuatu for the Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF). By February 2020, the first round of funds was used to level the site and run utilities while the second stage was to install fencing. Initial engineering work was completed by local firm Qualao Consulting. The handing-over of the completed stadium took place in May 2022. The following month, matches of the South Efaté League, a second-tier league in the country, began at the stadium and would continue to be held at the venue moving forward. The stadium is the first in the country to be accessible to people with reduced mobility.
