2023–24 Ligue 1
The 2023–24 Ligue 1, also known as Ligue 1 Uber Eats for sponsorship reasons, is the 86th season of the Ligue 1, France's premier football competition. The season began on 11 August 2023 and will conclude on 18 May 2024. The relegation play-off will be played on 30 May and 2 June 2024. Paris Saint-Germain are the two-time defending champions. Teams A total of eighteen teams are participating in the 2023–24 edition of the Ligue 1. In June 2021, the LFP voted overwhelmingly at its general assembly to contract Ligue 1 back to 18 clubs for the 2023–24 season by relegating four and promoting two from Ligue 2 after 2022–23. Anthony Taylor (referee)
Anthony Taylor (born 20 October 1978) is an English professional football referee from Wythenshawe, Manchester. In 2010, he was promoted to the list of Select Group Referees who officiate primarily in the Premier League, and in 2013 became a listed referee for FIFA allowing him to referee European and international matches. In 2015, he officiated the Football League Cup final at Wembley Stadium when Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2–0. Taylor returned to Wembley later that year to officiate the Community Shield as Arsenal beat Chelsea 1–0. He refereed the 2017 and 2020 FA Cup finals, both between Chelsea and Arsenal; Arsenal won on both occasions 2–1. Upon the selection, he became the first man to referee a second FA Cup final since Arthur Kingscott in 1901. Parc Olympique Lyonnais, known for sponsorship reasons as Groupama Stadium, is a 59,186-seat stadium in Décines-Charpieu, in the Lyon Metropolis. Kai Lukas Havertz (born 11 June 1999) is a German professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or forward for club Chelsea and the Germany national team. Billy Clifford Gilmour (born 11 June 2001) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion and the Scotland national team.
