2023 UCI Cycling World Championships
The 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships was the inaugural edition of the UCI Cycling World Championships organised by the (UCI), held between 3 and 13 August 2023 in Glasgow. The UCI Cycling World Championships, to be held every four years in the year preceding the Olympic Games, brings together various disciplines of cycling for them to be held as part of one event, including the UCI Road World Championships, UCI Mountain Bike World Championships and UCI Track Cycling World Championships. The event had a budget of £45–50 million, with funding coming from various local and national bodies, including the Scottish Government and UK Sport. Glasgow City Council provided £15 million to the championships after it was predicted the economic boost would total £67 million. UCI BMX World Championships
UCI BMX World Championships are the world championships for BMX racing (bicycle motocross) held under the regulations of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the sport's international governing body. The UCI Urban Cycling World Championships are the world championship events for freestyle BMX, cross-country eliminator, and Mountain bike trials, trials. They are organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale, Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the governing body of world cycling. Glasgow Green
Glasgow Green is a park in the east end of Glasgow, Scotland, on the north bank of the River Clyde. Established in the 15th century, it is the oldest park in the city. The UCI Trials World Championships are the world championship events in trials organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the governing body of world cycling. Aonach Mòr
Aonach Mòr is a mountain in the Scottish Highlands. It is located about northeast of Ben Nevis on the south side of Glen Spean, near Fort William. The mountain has a summit elevation of and is classified as a Munro. The name Aonach Mòr (''big ridge'') might suggest that the mountain is taller than its close neighbour to the south, Aonach Beag (''small ridge'') to which it is linked by a high bealach. However, the names refer to the relative bulk of the mountains when seen from the glen, rather than their elevation; the summit of Aonach Mòr is lower than the summit of Aonach Beag. The quickest and shortest ascent route for hikers is to take the gondola to the Snowgoose Terminal at an elevation of and then hike to the summit. Glentress Forest
Glentress Forest is located near Peebles in the Scottish Borders, about 30 miles south of Edinburgh. Part of the Tweed Valley Forest Park along with Traquair Forest in Innerleithen, it is the home of a mountain biking centre which is one of the 7stanes mountain bike trails operated throughout southern Scotland by Forestry and Land Scotland. There are currently 5 mountain bike waymarking, waymarked routes and a freeride park in Glentress Forest. The historic cycle trails, aimed at children and families, provide an interesting way to explore the forest and its history. The blue, red, and black mountain bike routes provide a challenge for all abilities. The red route is noted for a high-speed section with many bermed corners known as Spooky Woods. The UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships is the world championship event for marathon mountain bike races. Inaugurated by the Union Cycliste Internationale in 2003, the event is held annually in single classes for men and women. The 2003 event was organized as part of the UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships. Subsequent marathon world championships, however, have been organised as a stand-alone event.
