2021–22 Eredivisie
The 2021–22 Eredivisie was the 66th season of Eredivisie, the premier football competition in the Netherlands. It began on 14 August 2021 and concluded on 15 May 2022. Teams SC Cambuur (promoted after a five-year absence), Go Ahead Eagles and NEC Nijmegen (both promoted after a four-year absence) were promoted from the 2020–21 Eerste Divisie. ADO Den Haag (relegated after thirteen years in the top flight), VVV-Venlo (relegated after four years in the top flight) and FC Emmen (relegated after three years in the top flight) have been relegated to 2021–22 Eerste Divisie. The 2021–22 Eerste Divisie, known as Keuken Kampioen Divisie for sponsorship reasons, will be the 66th season of Eerste Divisie since its establishment in 1956. It will begin on 6 August 2021, and end with the promotion/relegation playoffs on 29 May 2022. Relegation for reserve teams On 1 August 2020, the KNVB detailed on its website in what scenarios will the reserve teams in the league be relegated from the Eerste Divisie. FC Emmen
FC Emmen is a Dutch football club based in Emmen, Drenthe. They play in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football, after winning the 2021–22 Eerste Divisie title. Founded in 1925, the club entered the professional Eerste Divisie in 1985. In 2018, Emmen were promoted to the Eredivisie for the first time, but in 2021 they were relegated to the Eerste Divisie again. 2022 they were promoted again and play the 2022-2023 season in the Eredivisie again. 2021–22 KNVB Cup
The 2021–22 KNVB Cup, for sponsoring reasons officially called the TOTO KNVB Beker, is the 104th season of the annual Dutch national football cup competition. It began in August with the first of two preliminary rounds, and will conclude April 17, 2022 with the final played at De Kuip in Rotterdam. Ajax are defending champions as they won the 2021 final. The winners will participate in the 2022 Johan Cruyff Shield against the 2021–22 Eredivisie champions. 2021 Johan Cruyff Shield
The 2021 Johan Cruyff Shield was the 25th edition of the Johan Cruyff Shield (Dutch: ''Johan Cruijff Schaal''), an annual Dutch football match played between the winners of the previous season's Eredivisie and KNVB Cup. The match was contested by the winners of the 2020–21 Eredivisie and the 2020–21 KNVB Cup on 7 August 2021. As Ajax won both the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup, the Eredivisie runners-up, PSV Eindhoven, participated in the 2021 Johan Cruyff Shield. The defending champions were Ajax, who won the 2019 Johan Cruyff Shield. The 2020 Johan Cruyff Shield was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Netherlands.
