2021–22 Southern Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2021–22 Southern Conference men's basketball season started non-conference play on November 9, 2021, and began conference play on December 29, 2021. The regular season ended on February 27, 2022, setting up the 2022 Southern Conference men's basketball tournament from March 4 to March 7. Conference Schedule Each team is scheduled to play 18 conference games. Each team will play every team twice, once at home and once on the road. The Big East Conference is a collegiate athletic conference that competes in NCAA Division I in ten men's sports and twelve women's sports. Headquartered in New York City, the eleven full-member schools are primarily located in Northeast and Midwest metropolitan areas. Wofford Terriers Men's Basketball
The Wofford Terriers men's basketball team represents Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States, in Division I (NCAA), Division I of the NCAA. The school's team competes in the Southern Conference. Wofford is coached by Jay McAuley, who was promoted after long-time head coach Mike Young left for Virginia Tech after the 2018–19 season. Jay McAuley
Jay McAuley (born August 7, 1983) is a former American basketball player and coach. He was the head coach of the Wofford Terriers men's basketball team. Playing career McAuley played basketball at Georgia where he appeared in 46 games. He was part of the Bulldogs 2008 SEC men's basketball tournament championship squad and its 2008 NCAA tournament team. Coaching career After working as a student manager at his alma mater once his playing career wrapped up, McAuley joined Mike Young's staff at Wofford for his first assistant coaching position. From there, he'd move on to an assistant coaching spot at Gardner-Webb for a three-year stretch before landing at Furman as assistant coach from 2013 to 2017. Michael Ray Jones (born April 30, 1965) is a current college basketball head coach. Jones’ father, Jimmy, was a star guard in the ABA from 1967-74.
