2021–22 Segunda División
The 2021–22 Segunda División (known as LaLiga SmartBank for sponsorship reasons) football season, is the 91st since its establishment in Spain. Teams Team changes Promotion and relegation (pre-season) A total of 22 teams will contest the league, including 15 sides from the 2020–21 season, three relegated from the 2020–21 La Liga, and four promoted from the 2020–21 Segunda División B. This will include the winners of the play-offs. ;Teams promoted to La Liga On 8 May 2021, Espanyol became the first side to mathematically be promoted, assured of a return to the top flight following a 0–0 draw against Zaragoza. Rubén Castro
Rubén Castro Martín (; born 27 June 1981) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Málaga CF mainly as a striker but also as a winger. He represented mainly Las Palmas and Betis during his career, appearing in 282 matches in La Liga and more than 400 in Segunda División. He also competed in China. Unión Deportiva Logroñés, S.A.D. is a Spanish football team based in Logroño, in the autonomous community of La Rioja. 2021–22 Primera División RFEF
The 2021–22 Primera División RFEF season is the first for the Primera División RFEF, the new third highest level in the Spanish football league system. It succeeded the old Segunda División B, which renamed itself Segunda División RFEF and downgraded to the fourth level in the pyramid. Forty teams will participate, divided into two groups of twenty clubs each based on geographical proximity. In each group, the champions automatically promoted to Segunda División and the second to fifth placers will play promotion play-offs and the bottom five are relegated to the Segunda División RFEF. 2021–22 La Liga
The 2021–22 La Liga is the 91st season of La Liga, Spain's premier football competition. It began on 13 August 2021 and will conclude on 22 May 2022. The fixtures were announced on 30 June 2021. On 24 June 2021, the Spanish Council of Ministers resolved that spectators could return to stadiums at full capacity by means of a modification of the royal decree regulating the 'new normality', in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Atlético Madrid are the defending champions, having won their eleventh title in the previous season. Espanyol, Mallorca and Rayo Vallecano join as the promoted clubs from the 2020–21 Segunda División. They are replacing Huesca, Valladolid and Eibar, which are relegated to the latter league in the previous season.
