Koo Yun-cheol
Koo Yun-cheol ( Korean: 구윤철, born 1965) is a South Korean government official currently serving as the Minister for Government Policy Coordination since 2020. He previously served as the Vice Minister of Economy and Finance from 2018 to 2020. Career After qualifying for the Public Administration Examination, he had been involved in various positions within the Ministry of Economy and Finance (including the predecessor Ministry of Planning and Budget). He also used to work at the Office of the President under the former President Roh Moo-hyun. During the presidency of Lee Myung-bak, he was a senior secretary of the Inter-American Development Bank. Nicholas Cheong Jin-suk
Nicholas Cheong Jin-suk (; 7 December 1931 – 27 April 2021) was a South Korean Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Seoul from 1998 until he retired in 2012. He was previously Bishop of Cheongju from 1970 to 1998. He was made a cardinal in 2006. Biography Cheong Jin-suk briefly studied chemical engineering at the Seoul National University before entering the seminary in Seoul, from where he later obtained his bachelor's degree in theology, in 1954. After studying sociology in Hong Kong, he was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Paul Roh Ki-nam on 18 March 1961 at the Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul. Cheong then did pastoral work in Seoul until becoming a professor at its minor seminary and notary of its archdiocesan curia in 1962. He was chancellor of the curia and undersecretary of the Catholic Conference from 1964 to 1965, and episcopal chancellor and vice-rector of the Minor Seminary from 1966 to 1967. Kim Tschang-yeul
Kim Tschang-yeul (24 December 19295 January 2021) was a South Korean artist in France known for his abstract paintings of water droplets. Art In 1958, Kim formed the Modern Artists' Association and joined the Art Informel movement, led by Whanki Kim, a pioneering abstract artist of Korea. In 1965, he received a Rockefeller Foundation grant to study at the Art Students League of New York. In 1969, he moved to Paris and lived there for the next 45 years. He has been compared to Lee Ufan and Nam June Paik and described as a "towering figure of Korean modern art". Kim was named a chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1996 and received a silver crown (eungwan) of the Order of Cultural Merit in 2013. Han Myeong-sook (born March 24, 1944; ko, 한명숙 ) was the Prime Minister of South Korea from April 2006 to March 2007. She is South Korea's first female prime minister (second female prime minister overall if the acting premiership of Chang Sang is included). She was from the United New Democratic Party (UNDP) as a member of the Korean National Assembly (representative) for Ilsan-gab, and is a graduate of Ewha Womans University in Seoul with a degree in French literature. She resigned as Prime Minister on March 7, 2007 and declared her presidential candidacy. But she did not succeed in the nominations. In 2008 she ran for parliament, but was not elected. Discharge Of Radioactive Water Of The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant
Radioactive waste water has been discharged into the Pacific Ocean since the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, triggered by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami on 11 March 2011 in Japan. Most of the radioactive materials came from immediate leaks into the atmosphere, 80% of which eventually deposited over the Pacific (and over some rivers). Leakage to groundwater has persisted since the disaster and was only first admitted by the nuclear plant in 2013. Water treatment began that year as the "Advanced Liquid Processing System" became operable, which is capable of removing most radionuclides except notably tritium. In 2021, the Japanese cabinet approved the dumping of radioactive water into the Pacific over a course of 30 years.
