Jordan ( ar, الأردن; tr. ' ), officially the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,; tr. ' is a country in Western Asia. It is situated at the crossroads of Asia, Africa, and Europe, within the Levant region, on the East Bank of the Jordan River. Jordan is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the south and east, Iraq to the northeast, Syria to the north, and the Palestinian West Bank, Israel, and the Dead Sea to the west. Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein ( ar, عبدالله الثاني بن الحسين , translit=ʿAbd Allāh aṯ-ṯānī ibn al-Ḥusayn; born 30 January 1962) is King of Jordan, having ascended the throne on 7 February 1999. He is a member of the Hashemite dynasty, who have been the reigning royal family of Jordan since 1921, and is considered a 41st-generation direct descendant of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Abdullah was born in Amman as the first child of King Hussein and his second wife, Princess Muna. Bisher Al-Khasawneh
Bisher Al-Khasawneh ( ar, بشر الخصاونة; born 27 January 1969) is a Jordanian politician and diplomat who is serving as the 43rd Prime Minister of Jordan and Minister of Defence since 12 October 2020. Al-Khasawneh was an ambassador of Jordan to Egypt, France, Kenya, Ethiopia, African Union, League of Arab States, and to UNESCO. He also served as Coordinator General and Director of the Peace Process and Negotiations Bureau in Jordan. He served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs between 2016 and 2017. He subsequently was Minister of State for Legal Affairs between 2017 and 2018. 2021 Alleged Jordanian Coup D'état Attempt
On 3 April 2021, Jordanian authorities arrested 19 people, including Prince Hamzah, who was put under house arrest. Arrests also included the prince's chief of staff and other figures associated with him, in addition to a member of the royal family, Sharif Hassan bin Zaid, and Bassem Awadallah, former Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court and Jordan's former envoy to Saudi Arabia. Hayder Khan Girai, Hayder () (lived ?–1487, reigned 1456?, 1475) was either once or twice briefly a Khan of Crimea. He was one of the sons of the dynasty's founder Hacı I Giray (c. 1441–1466). It is reported that in 1456 he rebelled against his father and briefly occupied the throne, but this is not certain. After his father's death, for twelve years (1466–1478), the throne alternated between Hayder's brothers Nur Devlet and Meñli I Giray. During one of Mengli's reigns Hayder was held in honorable confinement at the Genoese fortress of Sudak. In March 1475 the nobles replaced Mengli with Hayder. Yousef Ghawanmeh
Yousef Darwish Ghawanmeh ( ar, يوسف درويش غوانمة) (1935 – 11 January 2021) was a Jordanian historian, anthropologist, professor and author. Life He was born in the village of Saham Al-Kefarat north of the city of Irbid. He received his elementary education in his village before moving to the city of Irbid where he graduated high school, he then earned his Bachelor's, master's and doctorate's degree from Alexandria University and his Post-Doctorate from Princeton University in the United States in 1979. His works focus on the cultural and political history of Jordan during the Islamic periods. Ghawanmeh received several awards, including the Arab Historian Medal from the Union of Arab Historians in 1991, the State Appreciation Award in the field of social sciences in 1992 and the Order of Hussein bin Ali of the first class in 2014. Aqel Biltaji
Aqel Biltaji ( ar, عقل بلتاجي; 10 February 1941 – 28 February 2021) was a Jordanian,Palestinian politician, who served as the mayor of Amman. Career Biltaji was appointed by the government mayor of the Greater Amman Municipality in September 2013, from that date until August 2017. He occupied several positions over the course of his life, in Royal Jordanian Airlines and most famously as Minister of Tourism and tourism adviser to King Abdullah II and as chief of Aqaba's city council. Ibrahim Ghosheh
Ibrahim Ghosheh ( ar, إبراهيم غوشة; 1936–2021) was a Palestinian civil engineer. He was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and joined the Hamas in 1989. He served as the latter's spokesperson between 1992 and 1999. Early life and education Ghosheh was born in the Saadia neighborhood of Jerusalem on 26 November 1936. He was a graduate of the Rashidiya School in Jerusalem. His family had to leave Jerusalem during the Nakba in 1948, and they settled in Jericho.
