The 2021 Mountain West Conference football season, part of this year's NCAA Division I FBS football season was the 23rd season of college football for the Mountain West Conference (MW). Since 2012, 12 teams have competed in the Mountain West Conference. The season began on August 28, 2021 and ended on December 28, 2021. The entire schedule was released on March 5, 2021. Previous season The San Jose State Spartans defeated the Boise State Broncos 34–20 in the 2020 Mountain West Conference Football Championship Game at Sam Boyd Stadium in Whitney, Nevada. The NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly known as Division I-A, is the highest level of college football in the United States. The FBS consists of the largest schools in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). As of 2022, there are 10 conferences and 131 schools in FBS. The 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season was the 152nd season of college football in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at its highest level of competition, the Football Bowl Subdivision. The regular season began on August 28, 2021, and ended on December 11, 2021. The postseason began on December 17, with the main games ending on January 10, 2022, with the College Football Playoff National Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, and the all-star portion of the post-season concluding with the inaugural HBCU Legacy Bowl on February 19, 2022. Chad Muma
Chad Muma (born August 18, 1999) is an American football linebacker for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Wyoming and was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Early life and high school Muma grew up in Lone Tree, Colorado. He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes while in the seventh grade. Muma attended Legend High School, where he initially played defensive back. The award is named for Chuck Bednarik, a former college and professional American football player. Nicholas Starkel (born February 24, 1998) is an American football quarterback who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Texas A&M University, the University of Arkansas, and San Jose State University. Early life and high school career Starkel was born in Pittsburgh to Wendy and Murray Starkel.
