2021 Atlantic Coast Conference Football Season
The 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference football season, part of the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season, was the 69th season of college football play for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). It began on September 2, 2021, and ended on December 31, 2021. The ACC consists of 14 members in two divisions. Previous season Clemson defeated Notre Dame 34–10 in the ACC Football Championship Game. The victory, along with a 10–1 regular season record, earned Clemson a berth in the College Football Playoff. The Tigers were the number two seed in the playoff and faced Ohio State in the 2021 Sugar Bowl, where the Tigers lost 28–49. The NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly known as Division I-A, is the highest level of college football in the United States. The FBS consists of the largest schools in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). As of 2022, there are 10 conferences and 131 schools in FBS. The 2021 Sugar Bowl was a college football bowl game played on January 1, 2021, with kickoff at 8:00 p.m. EST (7:00 p.m. local CST). The Sugar Bowl was one of two College Football Playoff semifinal games, it featured two of the four teams selected by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee—Ohio State from the Big Ten and Clemson from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), with the winner advancing to face the winner of the Rose Bowl, Alabama, in the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship. Jahmyr Gibbs (born March 20, 2002) is an American football running back for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Georgia Tech with one year at Alabama and was selected by the Lions in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Early life and high school career Gibbs grew up in Dalton, Georgia, and attended Dalton High School. Xavien "Zay" Kevonn Flowers (born September 11, 2000) is an American football wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Boston College and was selected by the Ravens in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Early life and high school Flowers was born to Willie Flowers and Jackie Walden on September 11, 2000. When Flowers was five years old, his mother passed away from a head injury. 2021 Boston College Eagles Football Team
The 2021 Boston College Eagles football team represented Boston College during the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Eagles played their home games at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, and competed in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The team was led by second-year head coach Jeff Hafley. It was the first season with fans at Alumni Stadium since 2019. After finishing their regular season with a 6–6 record, the Eagles accepted a bid to play in the Military Bowl, where they were due to face the East Carolina Pirates. Phil Jurkovec (born November 3, 1999) is an American football quarterback for the Pittsburgh Panthers. He previously played college football for the Boston College and the Notre Dame. The 2021 Clemson Tigers football team represented Clemson University during the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Tigers were led by head coach Dabo Swinney, in his 14th year. The Tigers competed as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and played their home games at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina. This for the first time since 2014 when Clemson did not reach the ACC Championship Game or the College Football Playoff. Bryan Bresee (; born October 6, 2001) is an American football defensive tackle for the Clemson Tigers. He was the 2020 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year. High school career Bresee played football at Urbana High School in Frederick, Maryland before transferring to Damascus High School in Damascus, Maryland.
