Badminton At The 2020 Summer Olympics
The badminton tournaments at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo took place between 24 July and 2 August 2021. A total of 172 athletes (86 male and 86 female players) competed in five events: men's singles, men's doubles, women's singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Qualification The Olympic qualification period was originally scheduled to take place between 29 April 2019 and 26 April 2020, and the Badminton World Federation rankings list, scheduled to publish on 30 April 2020. The Olympic qualification period was then set between 29 April 2019 and 6 June 2021, and the Badminton World Federation rankings list, published on 15 June 2021, was used to allocate spots. Kim So-yeong
Kim So-yeong (Hangul: 김소영; born 9 July 1992) is a South Korean badminton player. Kim, who attended the University of Incheon, was the triple crowns at the 2013 Summer Universiade, by winning the gold medals in the women's doubles, mixed doubles and team event. She competed at the 2014 Asian Games, clinched the silver medal in the women's team event. Together with Kong Hee-yong, she was awarded as the 2019 BWF Most Improved Player of the Year. 2020 BWF World Junior Championships
The BWF World Junior Championships (also known as the World Junior Badminton Championships) is a tournament organized by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) to crown the best junior badminton players (under-19) in the world. The championships is held annually and consists of two separate competitions: a mixed team championships (Suhandinata Cup) followed by an individual championships (Eye Level Cups). Editions The precursor of the championships was the Bimantara World Junior Invitational held in Indonesia from 1987 to 1991. In 1992, International Badminton Federation (former name of Badminton World Federation) started the first IBF World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia. The China national badminton team, is a badminton team that represents the People's Republic of China in international badminton team competitions. In addition to the first national team, there is also the second national badminton team of China. Immediately afterward, there is the China National Badminton National Youth Team. All team procedures are managed by the China Badminton Association. Indonesia National Badminton Team
The Indonesia national badminton team represents Indonesia in international badminton team competitions and is controlled by the Badminton Association of Indonesia, the governing body for badminton in Indonesia. Indonesia is one of the only two countries beside China who has won all badminton discipline in the Olympic Games. 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup
The 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup (officially known as the TotalEnergies BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2020 for sponsorship reasons) was the 31st edition of the Thomas Cup and the 28th edition of the Uber Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the men and women's national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF). The tournament were played at Ceres Arena in Aarhus, Denmark. It is the first time that Denmark hosted the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup tournament and the first time this event was held in Europe since England 1982. Badminton At The 2020 Summer Paralympics
Badminton at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, was played at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium (renamed to Yoyogi National Stadium for the Games) from 1 to 5 September 2021. There were a total of fourteen events taking place: seven male events (six singles, one doubles), six female events (four singles, two doubles) and one mixed doubles event. The 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They kept the 2020 name and were held from 24 August to 5 September 2021. Arisa Higashino
is a Japanese badminton player. She won bronze in the mixed team at the Asian Junior Championships in 2013 and 2014, and competed at the 2014 World Junior Championships, winning two bronzes in the mixed doubles and team event. Higashino won her maiden Super 1000 tournament at the 2018 and 2021 All England Open in the mixed doubles event, partnering with Yuta Watanabe, and also won the bronze medal in the mixed doubles at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Career Higashino was born in Iwamizawa, graduated from the Tomioka Senior High School, and joined the Unisys team in 2015. In March 2021, Higashino and Watanabe won the mixed doubles title in the All England Open. Yuta Watanabe (badminton)
is a Japanese badminton player. He is a member of the Nihon Unisys team, and national team A representative. He is known for his quick and explosive movements with his signature drop shots on court. Watanabe has collected three bronze medals at the World Junior Championships, and also four bronze at the Asian Junior Championships. Watanabe was selected to join the Japanese mixed team compete at the 2017 Sudirman Cup in Gold Coast, Australia, winning a gold medal in the qualification to Gold Coast at the 2017 Asia Mixed Team Championships in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and the team finished in the semi-final round, took the bronze medal. Huang Yaqiong
Huang Yaqiong (, born 28 February 1994) is a Chinese badminton player who specializes in doubles. She won the prestigious All England Open in 2017 partnered with Lu Kai, and in 2019 with Zheng Siwei. Together with Lu, she emerged as the champion at the 2017 Asian Championships. With her current partner Zheng, she won the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, and claimed the BWF World Championships titles in 2018, 2019, and 2022.
