2020 North Dakota Elections
North Dakota has held two statewide elections in 2020: a primary election on Tuesday, June 9, and a general election on Tuesday, November 3. In addition, each township has elected officers on Tuesday, March 17, and each school district held their elections on a date of their choosing between April 1 and June 30. Primary Election On Tuesday, June 9, North Dakota voters will select which candidates for statewide and legislative office will appear on the November ballot. Because North Dakota does not have party registration, any eligible voter may vote in any one party's primary election. In addition, any number of constitutional amendments, initiated measures, or referred measures may be placed on the ballot by petition or legislative action. North Dakota Secretary Of State
The North Dakota Secretary of State is an elected office in the U.S. state of North Dakota. The incumbent was Alvin A. Jaeger. Duties of the Secretary of State include being the custodian of the state's Great Seal and other official state documents, recording the official acts of the Governor, distributing copies of legislative resolutions, and recording original bills and resolutions from each biennial Legislative Assembly. North Dakota Superintendent Of Public Instruction
The North Dakota Superintendent of Public Instruction oversees the operations of the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction. The Superintendent enforces state and federal statutes and regulations regarding public schools and related programs within the U.S. state of North Dakota. The Superintendent also oversees the North Dakota State Library, the North Dakota School for the Blind, and the North Dakota School for the Deaf. The Superintendent of Public Instruction is elected by statewide vote on a no party ballot. However, the superintendent usually associates with one party or another. Jonathan Godfread is an American politician from the state of North Dakota. A member of the Republican Party, he is the North Dakota Insurance Commissioner, and has served in the role since 2016. Early life and career Godfread is from Grand Forks, North Dakota. He attended Red River High School, and played for the school's basketball team. He graduated in 2000. He committed to attend the University of Utah to play college basketball for the Utah Utes men's basketball team. After taking a redshirt for Utah in his freshman year, he decided to transfer to the University of Northern Iowa. He played college basketball for the Northern Iowa Panthers, who qualified for the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament in 2004 and 2005. Godfread graduated from Northern Iowa in 2005.
