José Ulisses de Pina Correia e Silva () (born 4 June 1962) is a Cape Verdean businessman and politician who has been Prime Minister of Cape Verde since 22 April 2016. He took office after his party, the Movement for Democracy, won the 20 March 2016 parliamentary election. Early life and education In 1988, Silva graduated from the School of Economics and Business Management at the Technical University of Lisbon. Early career Silva started his career in the banking sector. He was the director of administration at the Bank of Cape Verde from 1989 to 1994. He also taught at the Jean Piaget University of Cape Verde. Political career Silva served in the government of Cape Verde as Secretary of State for Finance from 1995 to 1998 and Minister of Finance from 1999 to 2001. Between 2006 and 2008, Silva was Vice-President of the Movement for Democracy (MpD) political party. In 2008, he was elected as the Mayor of Praia, and he was reelected as Mayor in 2013. Académica Da Praia
Associação Académica da Praia is a football club that plays in the Premier division of the Santiago Island League (South) in Cape Verde. It is played along with Praia's three other famous teams in Estádio da Varzea, the club also practices at the stadium and over a kilometer east in Achada Grande Frente (or Leite). Its current president is Kiki and manager is Janito Carvalho who coached Sporting Praia in the previous season. Académica Praia is one of the most successful football (soccer) club in the island of Santiago and the South Zone, having won about 11 official titles, 2 are national and the remaining 9 are regional titles. The Cape Verdean Football Championship or the Campeonato Caboverdiano de Futebol is a football competition that was created in 1976 in Cape Verde. A local championship was founded in 1953 before independence, when the islands were still part of the Portuguese Empire. History Before independence The first football championship that was not official took place in 1938 and were colonial and later provincial, only clubs from São Vicente participated, they were actual insular championships. The first official championships began in 1953 and featured clubs from only the islands of São Vicente (along with its surroundings) and Santiago took part.
