2017–18 Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2017–18 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2017, followed by the start of the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play began in January 2018 and concluded in March 2018. Buffalo won the regular season title with a conference record of 15-3. Buffalo also won the MAC tournament and represented the MAC in the NCAA tournament where they defeated No. 4-seeded Arizona in the first round before falling to Kentucky in the second round. Jeremy Tyler Harris II (born September 10, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for Borås Basket of the Swedish Basketball League. He played college basketball Buffalo Bulls of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). High school career As a senior at Page High School, Harris led the team to the 2014 NCHSAA 4-A state tournament. Harris was the No. 8-rated prep player in North Carolina coming out of high school. College career He competed for two seasons at Gulf Coast State College. In his freshman season at Gulf Coast, he averaged 13.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. As a sophomore, Harris posted 18.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Nathanael Justin Oats (born October 13, 1974) is an American basketball coach, currently the head basketball coach at the University of Alabama. Prior to Alabama he was the head coach at the University at Buffalo. Education and playing career Oats grew up in Watertown, Wisconsin, where he was a three-year starter on the Maranatha Academy high school basketball team which went 24–0 in his senior year. He stayed in Watertown after high school, playing college basketball at NCCAA Division II/NCAA Division III Maranatha Baptist University. He was an all-conference player and served as a captain of the Crusaders while earning a bachelor’s degree in math education. Eugene German (born December 2, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He played college basketball for the Northern Illinois Huskies and left as the program's all-time leading scorer and a conference champion. High school career German grew up in crime-ridden Gary, Indiana and played basketball from an early age under his father's guidance. Thomas Wilder (born May 14, 1995) is an American basketball player for Nürnberg Falcons BC of the German ProA league. He played college basketball the Western Michigan.
