2017 UCI Asia Tour
The 2017 UCI Asia Tour was the 13th season of the UCI Asia Tour. The season began on 22 October 2016 with the Tour of Hainan and ended on 7 October 2017. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Asia Tour cycling jersey. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. The UCI Continental Circuits are a series of road bicycle racing competitions which were introduced in 2005 by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to expand cycling around the world. Ryan Gibbons (born 13 August 1994) is a South African cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Prior to starting his road racing career at junior level, Johannesburg-born Gibbons competed in mountain bike racing. He was named in the start list for the 2017 Giro d'Italia. Gibbons won the first stage of the first-ever Virtual Tour de France on 4 July 2020. The following month, he was named in the startlist for the Tour de France. 2017 Tour De Langkawi
The 2017 Tour de Langkawi was the 22nd edition of an annual professional road bicycle racing stage race held in Malaysia since 1996. The race was run at the highest category apart from those races which make up the UCI World Tour, and was rated by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) as a 2.HC (hors category) race as part of the 2017 UCI Asia Tour. The race was won by South African rider Ryan Gibbons for , taking the first professional wins of his career. The Le Tour de Filipinas is an annual professional road bicycle racing stage race held in Luzon, Philippines since 1955 as part of the UCI Asia Tour. It is held in April every year. Ben Hermans (born 8 June 1986) is a Belgian professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Hermans was born in Hasselt, Flanders, and he turned professional in 2009 with . Hermans left at the end of the 2013 season, and joined the for the 2014 season. The 2017 Tour of Oman was a road cycling stage race that took place between 14 and 19 February 2017 in Oman. It was the eighth edition of the Tour of Oman and was rated as a 2.HC race as part of the 2017 UCI Asia Tour. The previous year's winner, Vincenzo Nibali, did not defend his title. The race was won by Belgium's Ben Hermans, as part of the ; Hermans took the race lead after winning the second stage of the race, and further extended his lead with a victory in the queen stage of the race, finishing at Jabal Al Akhdhar. Hermans won the race by 22 seconds ahead of Portuguese rider Rui Costa (), who finished second on two stages during the race.
