2014 Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts was held from February 1 to 9 at the Maurice Richard Arena in Montreal, Quebec. The defending champion Rachel Homan rink won their second straight title, with Homan becoming the youngest skip to ever win back-to-back championships. The team went undefeated throughout the tournament, with the team never even being forced to throw their final rock in any of their games. Teams Returning as defending champions were the Rachel Homan rink from Ottawa, representing Team Canada as a result of winning the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. None of the other qualified teams had won the Scotties. Perhaps the next most decorated team in the event was 2000 Canadian Junior champion, three-time Canada Cup champion and four-time Grand Slam event winner Stefanie Lawton and her Saskatoon rink. Chelsea Carey
Chelsea Danielle Carey (born September 12, 1984 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. She is the 2016 and 2019 Canadian and Alberta women's champion skip and 2014 Manitoba provincial women's champion skip. Career Earlier career Carey curled in six provincial junior championships, but did not win the event. She did win the 2000 Juvenile Provincial championship which she followed up with a silver medal at the 2001 Canadian Juvenile championship. She was also the Manitoba high school provincial champion in 2002. Saville Community Sports Centre
The Saville Community Sports Centre is a sports facility run by the University of Alberta's Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation, where it is located in Edmonton, Alberta. The 2014 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships were held from January 18 to 26 at the Queens Place Emera Centre and the Liverpool Curling Club. Sarah Koltun
Sarah Elizabeth Anne Koltun (born July 6, 1993) is a Canadian curler from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. She currently plays second on Team Kerry Galusha. Career At just 13 years old, Koltun's first national championship was at the 2007 Canadian Junior Curling Championships where her team finished last with a 1–11 record. Later that year, she skipped the Yukon rink to a 1–5 record at the 2007 Canada Winter Games. She also skipped the Yukon team at the next seven Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Her best result was in 2013, skipping the team to a 7–4 record before losing in a tiebreaker. Other notable results were a 6–6 record in 2011 and a 5–7 finish in 2009. Lynn Kreviazuk
Lynn Elizabeth Kreviazuk (born May 2, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Ottawa, Ontario. Career Kreviazuk was the longtime lead for the Rachel Homan rink. She first joined the team in 2005 as its second. In 2006, the team won the Ontario Bantam Championship, followed by a gold medal at the Canada Winter Games the following season. In 2008, she became only the second female to skip a team to the Ontario Bantam Mixed Championship. Both in 2009 and 2010 as a member of the Homan rink, she won the provincial junior championships. She won again in 2011 as a member of the Clancy Grandy rink. In 2010, she won the Canadian Junior Curling Championships and a silver medal at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships. Allison "Alli" Flaxey ( Nimik; born February 13, 1985) is a Canadian curler from Caledon, Ontario. She currently plays third on Team Carly Howard. She is a former Canadian Mixed champion, and World Mixed Doubles bronze medallist. Career Flaxey is originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a junior, she won the Manitoba Junior championships at the age of 15 in 2001 with teammates Kristin Loder, Lindsay Titheridge and Elisabeth Peters. Heather Smith (born September 21, 1972 in Sackville, New Brunswick) is a Canadian curler from Fall River, Nova Scotia. While married to Brier champion Mark Dacey, she was known as Heather Smith-Dacey. She is currently the alternate on Team Andrea Kelly. Career 1990–2000 Smith grew up in Sackville, New Brunswick. She won two provincial junior championships, in 1990 as a third for Krista Smith and in 1991 as a skip. At the 1990 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, the team finished with a 5-5 record in 5th place. However, Smith-Dacey won the 1991 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Andrea Kelly (born July 31, 1985), previously known as Andrea Crawford, is a Canadian curler from Fredericton, New Brunswick. She currently skips her own team out of the Capital Winter Club in Fredericton. She is a nine-time New Brunswick Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion skip, winning six straight titles from 2009–2014. Kim Dolan
Kim Dolan (born Kim McLeod, April 12, 1958, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) is a Canadian curler. Career 1983–1999 Kim Dolan first made a national appearance on the curling scene in 1983. She won her first provincial championship and represented Prince Edward Island at the 1983 Scott Tournament of Hearts. Her team won four games and finished with a 4–6 round robin record. She returned in 1985 where she finished with the same 4–6 record. In 1987 Dolan made her third appearance at the Scott; however, this time she finished with a 1–10 record. A fourth Scott appearance for Dolan came in 1990. Her team performed better this time around; however finished with a 4–7 record.
