Baluan Sholak Palace Of Culture And Sports
The Baluan Sholak Sports Palace ( kk, Балуан Шолақ атындағы спорт сарайы, translit=Balýan Sholaq atyndaǵy sport saraıy) or Bolyan Sholak Sports Palace is a Palace of Sports in Almaty, the former capital of Kazakhstan. It was built in 1967 and extensively renovated in 2009–2011. It is named after Baluan Sholak, a celebrated Kazakh composer, singer, poet, dombra player, dzhigit and wrestler. It is the home arena for Aisulu Almaty, a women's ice hockey team based in Almaty. History Built in 1967 by order of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports under the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR. At the time of construction it had the main hall with 4 stands for 6 thousand seats, machine room for preparation of artificial ice, medical and methodological rooms. Janibek Alimkhanuly (also spelled as Zhanibek Alimkhanuly, born 1 April 1993) is a Kazakhstani professional boxer who has held the WBO middleweight title since August 2022. As an amateur he won gold medals at the 2013 World Championships, 2013 Asian Championships and 2014 Asian Games. He also represented Kazakhstan at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the middleweight division, losing in the quarter-finals.
