Modern Pentathlon
The modern pentathlon is an Olympic sport consisting of fencing (one-touch épée), freestyle swimming, equestrian show jumping, pistol shooting, and cross country running. The event is inspired by the traditional pentathlon held during the ancient Olympics. The modern pentathlon was first held in 1912, and its rules have changed several times over the years. The latest structure, as of the 2020 Olympics, consists of three separate events for fencing, swimming, and equestrian, which determine each athlete's starting time in the final event. The last event, called the laser-run, alternates four legs of laser pistol shooting followed by an 800 m run (for 3200 m in total). The sport has been a feature of the Summer Olympic Games since 1912, despite several attempts to remove it. A world championships for modern pentathlon has been held annually since 1949. Jung Jin-Hwa (also Jeong Jin-Hwa, ko, 정진화; born May 25, 1989, in Ulsan) is a modern pentathlete from South Korea. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he finished eleventh in the men's event, tying for the best result for a South Korean with Kim Mi-Seop at Atlanta in 1996. Isabella Isaksen
Isabella Isaksen (born November 20, 1993) is a modern pentathlete from the United States who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Isaksen is the younger sister of Margaux Isaksen, who competed in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and competed in 2016. Isabella trains with Margaux at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Isaksen qualified for the 2016 Olympics after the re-allocation of unused quota places on June 16, 2016. Isaksen is married to the Egyptian-born American Olympic modern pentathlete Amro El Geziry. Margaux Isaksen
Margaux Isaksen (born October 7, 1991) is a Modern pentathlon, modern pentathlete from the United States who competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, People's Republic of China, China, the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Heather Fell
Heather Fell (born 3 March 1983 in Plymouth, England) is a former British modern pentathlete turned triathlete. She competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics, winning the silver medal in the women's modern pentathlon event. Early life Fell grew up in Tavistock, Devon, where she was taught to ride and shoot, both disciplines in the pentathlon, by the parents of the 2000 Olympic pentathlon bronze medallist Kate Allenby. Heather has a degree in physiotherapy from Brunel University. Annika Schleu
Annika Schleu (born 3 April 1990) is a German modern pentathlete. She won the gold medal of the relay event at the 2012 World Championships and 2017 World Championships. She has competed in three Olympic Games, finishing in 26th place in 2012 and in 4th place in 2016. Personal life She was born in Berlin, Germany. She is married to fellow modern pentathlete Christian Zillekens. Individual events She won the silver medal at the 2018 World Championships. At junior level, she also won silver at the 2008 European Junior Championships.
