Bujar Nishani
Bujar Nishani (; 29 September 1966 – 28 May 2022) was an Albanian politician. He served as President of Albania from 24 July 2012 to 24 July 2017. Nishani was the youngest person to have been chosen as president of Albania, taking office at the age of 45. Before his election as president, Nishani held a number of governmental and diplomatic positions. Namely, he served as Minister of Internal Affairs from 2007 to 2009, and again between 2011 and 2012, as well as Minister of Justice from 2009 to 2011. Early life Nishani was born in Durrës, Albania, on 29 September 1966 to a couple of teachers with roots from Gjirokastër. He was a distant relative of Omer Nishani, Chairman of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania's Presidium, but during communism Bujar changed his surname to Mehmeti. Sali Berisha
Sali Ram Berisha (; born 15 October 1944) is an Albanian conservative politician and former cardiologist who served as the second President of Albania from 1992 to 1997 and Prime Minister from 2005 to 2013. He is also the current chairman of the Democratic Party of Albania which has been disputed. On 9 September 2021 Berisha was expelled by party chairman Lulzim Basha from the Democratic Party's Parliamentary Group due to legal issues with the US Department of State. This decision led to Berisha starting a nation-wide movement to remove Basha as leader of the Democratic Party, causing a major rift in the party's internal structures, between Berisha's and Basha's supporters. Edmond Haxhinasto (born 16 November 1966) is an Albanian politician who was Deputy Prime Minister of Albania from 2011 to 2013. Early life and education Edmond Haxhinasto was born in Tirana on 16 November 1966. Haxhinasto graduated from the University of Tirana, Faculty of History and Philology, English Chair in 1989 with a Diploma in English. His postgraduate education includes a Master of Business Administration from the International Executive Center, Brdo, Slovenia in 1996. In 2000, he completed a Master of Public Policy from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. Qafa E Vishës Bus Accident
The Qafa e Vishës bus accident occurred on 21 May 2012, at Qafa e Vishës () near Himarë, Albania, when a bus plunged 80 metres (260 ft) off a cliff. Most of the victims were students of Aleksandër Xhuvani University of Elbasan. The driver is also believed to have been killed. The students were travelling from Elbasan to Sarandë. Incident The bus fell into an 80-metre (262 ft) ravine off the road, according to police spokeswoman Klejda Plangarica, and a police investigation was under way. Ambulances and rescue helicopters were sent to assist the wounded and bring them to hospital, amid fears the casualty count could rise. The Mayor of Himarë, Jorgo Goro, declared that all available resources in and extensive citizen participation the area did everything in their power to save the injured.
