2012 United Nations Security Council Election
The 2012 United Nations Security Council election was held on 18 October 2012 during the Sixty-seventh session of the United Nations General Assembly, 67th session of the United Nations United Nations General Assembly, General Assembly, held at the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York City. The elections were for five non-permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council, UN Security Council for two-year mandates commencing on 1 January 2013 to replace the five countries whose terms expired. The countries elected were Argentina, Australia, Luxembourg, the South Korea, Republic of Korea, and Rwanda with Luxembourg being elected for the first time.
