2011 AFC Asian Cup
The 2011 AFC Asian Cup was the 15th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The finals were held in Qatar from 7 to 29 January 2011. It was the fifteenth time the tournament has been held, and the second time it has been hosted by Qatar, the other being the 1988 AFC Asian Cup. Japan won the cup after a 1–0 win against Australia, and earned the right to compete in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil as the representative from AFC. A television viewing audience of 484 million in 80 countries across the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, North America and North Africa witnessed Japan defeat Australia 1–0 in the final. Koo Ja-cheol
Koo Ja-cheol (; or ; born 27 February 1989) is a South Korean Association football, footballer who plays for Jeju United FC, Jeju United as a midfielder. Koo is one of the three most successful South Korean players with careers in the German Bundesliga, alongside Cha Bum-kun and Son Heung-min. He played for VfL Wolfsburg, FC Augsburg and 1. FSV Mainz 05, Mainz 05 with 211 Bundesliga appearances. He also captained the South Korea national team in the Football at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and won a bronze medal in the Summer Olympics. AFC Challenge Cup 2008
The 2008 AFC Challenge Cup football tournament was organised by AFC and was hosted by India.The tournament was played from 30 July – 13 August 2008. India won the final against Tajikistan. India was also the winner of the fair play award and the India captain Bhaichung Bhutia won the most valuable player award. Chinese Taipei was originally designated the host, but could not guarantee it would meet the AFC's standards for hosting the tournament. Thailand was first chosen as host but withdrew due to lack of time to prepare. The Philippines also was to take over as host with matches to be played in Bacolod in May 2008 but the plan failed to materialized. The winners of the 2008 and 2010 competitions will qualify directly for the 2011 Asian Cup. 1964 AFC Asian Cup
The 1964 AFC Asian Cup was the 3rd edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The finals were held in Israel from 26 May to 3 June 1964. The tournament used a round-robin system with the winners from the West, Central 1 and 2 and East Asia zones and the team from the host nation (Israel) competing for the title. 11 of the 17 nations withdrew with the result that only one zone (combined Central 1 and 2) played any qualifying matches and the winners of 2 zones and host Israel qualified uncontested. The 1996 AFC Asian Cup was the 11th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). 1984 AFC Asian Cup
The 1984 AFC Asian Cup was the 8th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The finals were hosted by Singapore between 1 December and 16 December 1984. The field of ten teams was split into two groups of five. Saudi Arabia won their first title, beating China in the final 2–0. Qualification 21 teams competed in qualifying for the 1984 AFC Asian Cup with the teams being separated into three groups of five teams and one group of six. The top two of each group would qualify through to the Asian Cup as they would join Singapore and Kuwait who automatically qualified.
