Viktor Yushchenko
Viktor Andriyovych Yushchenko ( uk, Віктор Андрійович Ющенко, ; born 23 February 1954) is a Ukrainian politician who was the third president of Ukraine from 23 January 2005 to 25 February 2010. As an informal leader of the Ukrainian opposition coalition, he was one of the two main candidates in the 2004 Ukrainian presidential election. Yushchenko won the presidency through a repeat runoff election between him and Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych. The Ukrainian Supreme Court called for the runoff election to be repeated because of widespread electoral fraud in favor of Yanukovych in the original vote. Yushchenko won in the revote (52% to 44%). Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2009
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2009 was the seventh edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest and took place in Kyiv, Ukraine. It was scheduled for 21 November 2009. 13 countries were confirmed by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to compete in the contest. The contest was won by Ralf Mackenbach for the Netherlands with the song "Click Clack". At the age of 14, he was the oldest person to win the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in its seven-year history. He was joined by Italy's Vincenzo Cantiello who won the 2014 contest also at the age of 14. Luara Hayrapetyan achieved Armenia another second place. Ekaterina Ryabova also took second place for Russia. Artek (camp)
Artek (russian: Арте́к) is an international children's center (a former Young Pioneer camp) on the Black Sea in the town of Gurzuf located on the Crimean Peninsula, near Ayu-Dag. It was established on 16 June 1925. The camp first hosted only 80 children but then grew rapidly. In 1969 it had an area of 3.2 km2 (790 acres). The camp consisted of 150 buildings, including three medical facilities, a school, the film studio Artekfilm, three swimming pools, a stadium with a seating capacity of 7,000 and playgrounds for various other activities. Unlike most of the young pioneer camps, Artek was an all-year camp, due to the warm climate. Artek was considered to be a privilege for Soviet children during its existence, as well as for children from other communist countries. During its heyday, 27,000 children a year vacationed at Artek. Timur Valeriyovych Miroshnychenko ( Ukrainian: Тімур Валерійович Мірошниченко) (born 9 March 1986) is a Ukrainian TV presenter for the channel UA:PBC. He was the host of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2009 together with Ani Lorak, and again in 2013 with Zlata Ognevich. Timur also co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Biography Miroshnychenko was born on 9 March 1986 in Kyiv. In his years as a student he was a member of KVN student's team. His TV career began in 2005, when he became a commentator for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2005 — the first JESC to broadcast in Ukraine. He went on to become the commentator of the Eurovision Song Contest for Ukraine from 2007, replacing Pavlo Shylko. Iryna Senyk (Ukrainian, Іри́на Миха́йлівна Се́ник; June 8, 1926, Lviv - October 25, 2009, Boryslav) was a Ukrainian poet, nurse, and Soviet political dissident. She was imprisoned in Stalinist camps as were her mother and brother. She was a member of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group and an honorary member of PEN International. Biography Iryna Mykhailivna Senyk was born on June 8, 1926, in Lviv. Her parents were Mykhailo Senyk and Maria Senyk. From 1939, she was a member of the Youth of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), and in 1941, she became a full member of the organization, working in the regional propaganda department. She studied at a folk school and a private girls' gymnasium before entering University of Lviv in 1944.
