2008 Major League Soccer Season
The 2008 Major League Soccer season was the 13th season in the history of Major League Soccer. The season began on March 29 and ended with MLS Cup 2008, on November 23 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Changes from the 2007 season * The San Jose Earthquakes returned to play, following a two year hiatus that began in the 2005 offseason, in the Western Conference. * The top three teams from each conference qualified automatically for the playoffs (up from two). In addition the two highest remaining point totals, regardless of conference, also qualified (down from four). * Following the 2008 season, qualification for the SuperLiga was limited to the top four overall finishers not already qualified for the CONCACAF Champions League, after problems related to fixture congestion during the 2008 season. Stadion Miejski im. Henryka Reymana ( en, Henryk Reyman's Municipal Stadium) is a football-specific stadium in Kraków, Poland. It is currently used as home ground by Wisła Kraków football team playing in the Ekstraklasa. The address of the stadium is Kraków, ul. Reymonta 22. The stadium has a capacity of 33,326 spectators, who are all seated, and is fully roofed. Wisła Stadium is the fourth largest arena in Ekstraklasa. Stadium was originally built in 1953. Edward James Lewis (born May 17, 1974) is an American former soccer player and entrepreneur. During his 14-year professional career, Lewis played extensively in both the United States and England, for San Jose Clash, Fulham, Preston North End, Leeds United, Derby County and Los Angeles Galaxy. Carlos Manuel Bocanegra (born May 25, 1979) is an American sports executive and former professional soccer player. A two-time MLS Defender of the Year, Bocanegra also played professionally in England, Scotland, France, and Spain. He earned over 100 caps with the United States, serving as captain for six years.
