The 2007 China Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 9th edition of the China Open, and was part of the International Series of the 2007 ATP Tour, and of the Tier II Series of the 2007 WTA Tour. Both the men's and the women's events took place at the Beijing Tennis Center in Beijing, China, with the men playing from September 10 through September 16, 2007, and the women from September 17 through September 23, 2007. The men's singles featured ATP No. 4, Australian Open quarterfinalist, French Open and US Open semifinalist Nikolay Davydenko, Australian Open and Rome Masters runner-up Fernando González, and Auckland finalist and Sopot titlist Tommy Robredo. Also competing were Doha and 's-Hertogenbosch winner Ivan Ljubičić, Zagreb titlist and Beijing defending champion Marcos Baghdatis, Hyung-taik Lee, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Igor Kunitsyn. Marcos Baghdatis
Marcos Baghdatis ( el, Μάρκος Παγδατής, ar, ماركوس بغداتيس; ; born 17 June 1985) is a Cypriot former professional tennis player. He was the runner-up at the 2006 Australian Open and a semifinalist at the 2006 Wimbledon Championships, and reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 8 in August 2006. In the latter part of his career, Baghdatis endured a series of injuries that impacted his play. Ivan Ljubičić (; born 19 March 1979) is a Croatian former professional tennis player. He reached a career-high Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) world No. 3 singles ranking on 1 May 2006. Tomás Robredo Garcés, known as Tommy Robredo (, ; born 1 May 1982), is a Spanish former professional tennis player. His career-high singles ranking was world No. 5, which he reached in August 2006 as a result of winning the Hamburg Masters earlier in the year. Robredo reached the quarterfinals at seven singles major tournaments. He was also a three-time semifinalist at the US Open men's doubles tournament, and a semifinalist at the Australian Open in mixed doubles. Robredo turned professional in 1998 and was coached by José Manuel "Pepo" Clavet and then by Karim Perona. Robredo considered his forehand to be his best shot, and red clay his favorite surface.
