2005 Little League World Series
The 2005 Little League World Series took place between August 19 and August 28 in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The West Oahu Little League of ʻEwa Beach, Hawaii, defeated the defending champion Pabao Little League of Willemstad, Curaçao, in the championship game of the 59th Little League World Series. This was the second time that the Little League World Series championship game was won with a walk-off home run, which Michael Memea hit in the bottom of the 7th inning. The tournament used two venues, both in South Williamsport: *Howard J. ʻEwa Beach, Hawaii
Ewa Beach () or simply Ewa () is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Ewa District and the Honolulu County, Hawaii, City & County of Honolulu along the coast of Māmala Bay on the leeward side of Oahu, Oahu in Hawaii. The New England Region is one of ten United States regions that currently send teams to the Little League World Series, the largest youth baseball competition in the world. The region's participation in the Little League World Series dates back to 1957, when it was known as the East Region. However, in 2001, the East Region was split into the New England Region and the Mid-Atlantic Region. Regional headquarters are located in Bristol, Connecticut. Westbrook is a city in Cumberland County, Maine, United States and a suburb of Portland. The Mid-Atlantic Region is one of ten United States regions that currently sends teams to the Little League World Series, the largest youth baseball tournament in the world. Newtown is a borough in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,248 at the 2010 census. Caribbean Region (Little League World Series)
The Caribbean Region is a region that competes in the Little League World Series. The Caribbean region was first given an automatic berth in 2001. Prior to 2001, Caribbean teams competed for a berth in the LLWS in the Latin American region. A team from Curaçao won the first nine Caribbean championships, until 2010. Curaçao's Pabao Little League won the 2004 Little League World Series, the only title to date for a Caribbean team. Canada In The Little League World Series
Little League Baseball has been played in Canada since 1951. Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and Vancouver, British Columbia were the first leagues outside the United States. Approximately 500 leagues now operate in Canada, making it the second-largest country in Little League participation. In 1952, Montreal, Quebec was the first foreign entry in the Little League World Series. In 1953, Little Mountain Little League of Vancouver advanced to the World Series as representative of the Western Region. In 1958, Canada was given an automatic berth in the LLWS and have since participated in every tournament, with the exception of 1975.
