2004–05 Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2004–05 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2004, followed by the start of the 2004–05 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play began in January 2005 and concluded in March 2005. Miami won the regular season title with a conference record of 12–6 by one game over a five-way tie for second place. Fourth-seeded Ohio beat Miami in the semi-finals and defeated second-seeded Buffalo in overtime in the final. Leon Williams of Ohio was named the tournament MVP. Ohio represented the MAC in the NCAA tournament. There they lost in the first round to Florida. Preseason awards The preseason poll was announced by the league office on October 21, 2004. The 2005 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 65 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. Joseph David Reitz (born August 24, 1985) is a former American football offensive tackle who played seven seasons for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). He was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He attended Western Michigan University where he played college basketball and not football. Charlie Coles
Charlie Coles (February 6, 1942 – June 7, 2013) was an American college basketball coach and the former men's basketball head coach at Miami University and Central Michigan University. He was born Charles Leroy Coles in Springfield, Ohio and later moved in with his grandparents in nearby Yellow Springs, where he attended Bryan High School. He led the state in scoring as a senior, averaging 42.1 points per game, including one game of 65 points, and graduated in 1959.
