2004 IIHF World U18 Championships
The 2004 IIHF World U18 Championships were held in Minsk, Belarus. The championships began on April 8, 2004, and finished on April 18, 2004. Games were played at the Ice Palace and Palace sport in Minsk. Russia defeated the United States 3–2 in the final to claim the gold medal, while the Czech Republic defeated Canada 3–2 to capture the bronze medal. Lauri Korpikoski
Lauri Korpikoski (born 28 July 1986) is a Finnish professional ice hockey left winger who is currently playing for HC TPS of the Liiga. Korpikoski has previously played in the NHL for the Arizona Coyotes, Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars, Columbus Blue Jackets and the New York Rangers, the organization that drafted him in the first round, 19th overall, at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. 2005 IIHF World U18 Championship Division I
The 2005 IIHF World U18 Championship Division I were a pair of international under-18 ice hockey tournaments run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Division I tournaments made up the second level of competition at the 2005 IIHF World U18 Championships. The Group A tournament took place between 3 April and 9 April 2005 in Maribor, Slovenia and the Group B tournament took place between 2 April and 8 April 2005 in Sosnowiec, Poland. Belarus and Norway won the Group A and Group B tournaments respectively and gained promotion to the Championship Division for the 2006 IIHF World U18 Championships. While Great Britain finished last in Group A and Italy last in Group B and were both relegated to Division II for 2006. David Krejčí (, born 28 April 1986) is a Czech professional ice hockey centre and alternate captain for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL). Michal Birner (born 2 March 1986) is a Czech ice hockey forward who is currently playing for HC Bílí Tygři Liberec in the Czech Extraliga (ELH). Playing career Birner was drafted 116th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues. Prior to being drafted in the NHL, Birner was a CHL Import Draft- Barrie Colts 1st Round(8th) 2004 On 15 December 2007, the Blues traded Birner, along with Doug Weight and a 7th round draft choice to the Anaheim Ducks for Andy McDonald. Marek Schwarz (born April 1, 1986) is a Czech professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the HC Sparta Prague. Playing career As a youth, Schwarz played in the 2000 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a team from Chomutov. He played junior ice hockey in his native Czech Republic with HC Sparta Praha. He made his debut at the senior level with Sparta Praha playing one game in the Czech Extraliga in 2002–03. Ryan Garlock (born April 24, 1986) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He most notably played in the American Hockey League (AHL). Playing career Garlock was drafted 45th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks from the OHL.
