Ahmet Necdet Sezer
Ahmet Necdet Sezer (; born 13 September 1941) is a Turkish statesman and judge who served as the tenth president of Turkey from 2000 to 2007. Previously he was president of the Constitutional Court of Turkey from 1998 to 2002. The Grand National Assembly of Turkey elected Sezer as president in 2000 after Süleyman Demirel's seven-year term expired. He was succeeded by Abdullah Gül in 2007. Following his legal career, Sezer became a candidate for the presidency with the joint support of many political parties in Parliament. Following the 2000 presidential election, he took an ardent secularist approach on issues such as the headscarf, holding the view that secularism in Turkey was under threat. Bülent Ecevit
Mustafa Bülent Ecevit (; 28 May 1925 – 5 November 2006) was a Turkish politician, statesman, poet, writer, scholar, and journalist, who served as the Prime Minister of Turkey four times between 1974 and 2002. He served as prime minister in 1974, 1977, 1978–1979, and 1999–2002. Ecevit was chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP) between 1972 and 1980, and in 1987 he became chairman of the Democratic Left Party (DSP). Ecevit began his political career when he was elected a CHP MP from Ankara in the 1957, and came to prominence as Minister of Labour in İsmet İnönü's cabinets, representing the rising left-wing faction of the party. Abdullah Gül (; ; born 29 October 1950) is a Turkish politician who served as the 11th President of Turkey, in office from 2007 to 2014. He previously served for four months as Prime Minister from 2002 to 2003, and concurrently served as both Deputy Prime Minister and as Foreign Minister between 2003 and 2007. He is currently a member of the Advisory Panel for the President of the Islamic Development Bank. Turgut Göle (1913–2002) was a Turkish politician from the Republican People's Party (CHP) and served at the Parliament and also, at the Senate. He left the CHP and joined the Republican Reliance Party in 1967. Before his political career he worked as a district governor and then, a lawyer. Esmeray Diriker (25 February 1949 – 25 March 2002) was an Afro-Turkish singer. Biography Esmeray, who was of Afro-Turkish descent was born in the Emirgan district of Istanbul. Her father, Nusret, was a member of a Moroccan family that settled in Turkey during the Ottoman Empire, her mother Fermet is white. In 1960, Esmeray dropped out of her last year of Emirgan Secondary School, to join the Istanbul community theatre, and performed on stage for the first time in a children's play. Mehmet Emin Toprak (11 September 1974 – 2 December 2002) was a Turkish film actor. Toprak starred in the critically acclaimed 2002 film ''Uzak''. He died in a car crash on the way back from the Ankara Film Festival, near the town of Çan at the age of 28 years.
