Joseph Gérard Léonce Bernard, (May 23, 1943 in Abram Village, Prince Edward Island – March 25, 2013 in Prince Edward Island) was an Acadian-Canadian politician, who was the 26th Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island, the third Island Acadian to hold this position. Born in Abram Village, Prince Edward Island, he received his early education at Evangeline School in Abram Village, becoming a member of the first class to graduate from the school after the completion of its construction, in 1962. He then went on to take courses in bookkeeping and accounting while a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Soon after, he married Florence Gallant of Cap-Egmont, located in the same area as Abram-Village. Together, they have four children, Michel, Pierre, Francine, and Charles, as well as two grandchildren. Gilbert Ralph Clements, (11 September 1928 – 27 November 2012) was a Canadian politician and the 25th Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island from 1995 to 2001. Born in Victoria Cross, Prince Edward Island, he was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island in 1970 representing 4th Kings. He was re-elected in 1974, 1979, 1982, 1986, 1989, and 1993. He held the following positions: Minister Municipal Affairs, Environment & Tourism, Parks & Conservation (1974–1978), Opposition Critic for Finance and Energy (1979–1986), Minister of Finance & Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs (1986–1989), and Minister of Finance & Minister of the Environment (1989–1993). Hilary Mary Weston ( Frayne; born January 12, 1942) is an Irish–Canadian businesswoman and writer who served as the 26th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario from 1997 to 2002. During her five-year tenure, Weston focused on issues related to women, volunteerism and young people, drawing public attention to people working with the homeless, in hospices and as mentors to at-risk youth. Myra Freeman
Myra Ava Freeman (born May 17, 1949) is a Canadian philanthropist, teacher, the 29th and first female Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Freeman was born Myra Ava Holtzman in Saint John, New Brunswick, the daughter of Anne Golda (Freedman), a homemaker, and Harry Holtzman, a businessman. She graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education. In 1971, she started teaching with the Halifax Regional School Board until her appointment. She was appointed Lieutenant Governor in 2000 by Governor General Adrienne Clarkson, on the advice of Jean Chrétien. She served as lieutenant governor until September 7, 2006. Freeman and her husband, Larry, have three children: Daniel M. Freeman, Jonathan Freeman and Debra Freeman. Arthur Maxwell House
Arthur Maxwell House, (August 10, 1926 – October 17, 2013) was a Canadian neurologist and the tenth lieutenant governor of Newfoundland and Labrador. Born in Glovertown, Newfoundland, he graduated from medical school at Dalhousie University in 1952. He then specialized in neurology, at the Montreal Neurological Institute, becoming the only neurologist, in 1959, in the province until 1966. In the 1970s, House became pioneer of telehealth by offering telephone consultations with patients in remote areas of the province. He had helped to establish the medical school at Memorial University of Newfoundland and worked for thirty years there as a professor of neurology. He also held several administrative positions there and he retired in 1993. In 1997, he was appointed Lieutenant-Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador.
