This is a list of German television related events from 1999. Events *12 March - Corinna May is selected to represent Germany at the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest with her song " Hör den Kindern einfach zu". She is selected to be the forty-fourth German Eurovision entry during Countdown Grand Prix held at the Stadthalle in Bremen. *16 March - Corinna May was disqualified from the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest when it was discovered that the winning song " Hor den Kindern einfach zu" was released in 1997 by another act, since entering a cover song was contrary to the rules. Sürpriz, who were the runners-up performing " Reise nach Jerusalem – Kudüs'e seyahat" were therefore promoted and announced as the forty-fourth German Eurovision entry. Television in Germany began in Berlin on 22 March 1935, broadcasting for 90 minutes three times a week. It was home to the first public television station in the world, named ''Fernsehsender Paul Nipkow''. In 2000, the German television market had approximately 36.5 million television households, making it the largest television market in Europe. Nowadays, 95% of German households have at least one television receiver. All the main German TV channels are free-to-air. Ned's Newt
''Ned's Newt'' is an animated television series created by Andy Knight and Mike Burgess and is co-produced by Nelvana and German company TMO Film GmbH (later renamed as "TMO-Loonland Film GmbH" in seasons 2-3) in conjunction with Studio B Productions. It aired on Teletoon from October 17, 1997 to December 31, 1999. In the United States, the series aired on Fox Kids starting on February 7, 1998 on Saturday mornings, but later changed to weekday mornings on October 5, 1998 to January 1, 1999. However, only the first season aired on Fox Kids in the U.S. while the series was never rebroadcast for many years. The series also aired on the now-defunct Qubo (with seasons 2-3) from March 28, 2016 to July 27, 2018, and again starting from March 30, 2020 to July 24, 2020. Dream Street (UK TV Series)
Dream Street were an American pop boy band that was formed in 1999 by Louis Baldonieri and Brian Lukow. The band disbanded in 2002 following a legal dispute between parents of the band members and the band's managers. History The group was initially put together by music producers Louis Baldonieri and Brian Lukow. Originally named 'Boy Wonder' (a name borrowed from the nickname of comic book character Robin from the Batman comics and films), the band featured several boys aged 11–14 from the New York Broadway/Acting scene. Baldonieri and Lukow hoped to make an impact on the pop music industry by introducing a group of teenagers to the scene, all of whom had prior stage-singing experience.
