Regular television broadcasts in the United Kingdom started in 1936 as a public service which was free of advertising, which followed the first demonstration of a transmitted moving image in 1926. Currently, the United Kingdom has a collection of free-to-air, free-to-view and subscription services over a variety of distribution media, through which there are over 480 channelsTaking the base Sky EPG TV Channels. A breakdown is impossible due to a) the number of platforms, b) duplication of services, c) regional services, d) part time operations, and e) audio. David Emge
David Emge (born September 9, 1946) is an American actor. He played Stephen in George A. Romero's horror film '' Dawn of the Dead''. Career One of Emge's classmates and acting partners while in college was Ron Glass, who later became famous as a starring member of the situation comedy ''Barney Miller''. While working as a chef in a New York City restaurant, Emge met George A. Carlton Select
Carlton Select was a British digital television channel, owned by Carlton Television. It was originally launched in June 1995 as SelecTV, by the independent production company of the same name, before being purchased by Carlton in 1997 who relaunched it as Carlton Select. On 14 February 1997, after SelecTV was rebranded, Carlton Select branded itself as "The UK's leading entertainment cable channel". Together with quiz shows, films and comedies, the channel brought viewers a wide-ranging choice of high quality programming. The channel was also available via satellite in Africa, on the South African DStv service. John Street (snooker Referee)
Arthur John Street (3 January 1932 – 6 January 2009), better known as John Street, was an English professional snooker referee. Street was born in Devon on 3 January 1932. During World War II he was evacuated to the north-east of England and, after the war, was hospitalised for 14 months due to tuberculosis. He started refereeing matches in 1960. His first professional refereeing role was at the 1974 World Snooker Championship and his first televised match was during the 1978 Masters. He worked for the Pearl Assurance company as an insurance agent for 18 years until leaving the role to focus on refereeing professionally. Before becoming an insurance agent, he had worked as an apprentice engineer, as a salesperson at a tailor and in a betting shop. Ronald Antonio O'Sullivan (born 5 December 1975) is an English professional snooker player who is the current world champion and world number one. 1997 Masters (snooker)
The 1997 Masters (officially the 1997 Benson & Hedges Masters) was a professional non-ranking snooker tournament that took place between 2 and 9 February 1997 at the Wembley Conference Centre in London, England. Steve Davis won his third Masters title, nine years after his last win in 1988, by defeating Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final. O'Sullivan, who was playing in his third consecutive Masters final, took an 8–4 lead before Davis came back to win six successive frames and clinch the title with a 10–8 victory. The final was notable for featuring snooker's first ever streaker, 22-year-old secretary Lianne Crofts, who invaded the playing area at the beginning of the third frame. After stewards removed her from the arena, O'Sullivan amused the crowd by comically wiping the brow of veteran referee John Street, who was refereeing his final match of his career. Bennet Evan Miller (born 24 February 1966) is an English actor, comedian, and author. He rose to fame as one half of the comedy duo Armstrong and Miller. Trouble was a subscription television channel operating in the United Kingdom and Ireland that was owned and operated by Virgin Media Television.
