The following article presents a summary of the 1997 football (soccer) season in Brazil, which was the 96th season of competitive football in the country. Campeonato Brasileiro Série A Second phase Final Relegation The four worst placed teams, which are Bahia, Criciúma, Fluminense and União São João, were relegated to the following year's second level. Campeonato Brasileiro Série B América Mineiro declared as the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B champions. Promotion The two best placed teams in the final stage of the competition, which are América-MG and Ponte Preta, were promoted to the following year's first level. Relegation The worst placed team in each one of the five groups in the first stage, which are Moto Club, Central, Sergipe, Giatuba and Mogi Mirim, were relegated to the following year's third level. Estádio Olímpico Monumental
Estádio Olímpico Monumental (''Monumental Olympic Stadium'', in English), also known as Estádio Olímpico de Porto Alegre (''Porto Alegre Olympic Stadium'') and Estádio Olímpico (''Olympic Stadium'') until 1980, is a football stadium in the city of Porto Alegre, in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, with a maximum capacity of 45,000 people. The Campeonato Alagoano is the football league of the state of Alagoas, Brazil. Format 2020 First Division The Campeonato Alagoano is divided into three stages. *First stage: simple round-robin, in which all eight teams play each other once. The four best-placed teams go to the Semifinals. *Semifinals: home-and-away playoff with the top 4 teams of the first stage (1st place x 4th place, 2nd place x 3rd place), with the two winners going to the Finals. *Finals: home-and-away playoff between the two qualified teams. Rio Branco Football Club, commonly referred to as Rio Branco, is a Brazilian professional club based in Rio Branco, Acre founded on 8 June 1919. Copa do Nordeste (''Cup of the North-East''), also known as Campeonato do Nordeste (''Championship of the North-East'') or Copa Nordeste (''Northeastern Cup''), and sometimes informally referred as Lampions League – in reference to the UEFA Champions League and bandit Lampião, is a Brazilian football competition among Northeastern region teams.
