The actual birthday was on 16 September. *Jessica Rowe joins Ten News Sydney in January to co-anchor with Ron Wilson for the next nine years. *1 January – To celebrate the start of the new year, ABC-TV debuts a series of new idents featuring people doing various activities using inspiration and fun. Blinky Bill
Blinky Bill is an anthropomorphic koala and children's fictional character created by author and illustrator Dorothy Wall. The character of Blinky first appeared in Brooke Nicholls' 1933 book, ''Jacko – the Broadcasting Kookaburra'', which was illustrated by Wall. Wall then featured Blinky Bill in a series of her own books, including ''Blinky Bill: The Quaint Little Australian'', ''Blinky Bill Grows Up'', and ''Blinky Bill and Nutsy''. Wayne Patterson
Wayne George Patterson was a fictional character on the long-running Australian police drama Blue Heelers, played by actor Grant Bowler. He starred in the show from its beginning until he was hit by a car and killed in episode 96 in 1996. Wayne is a young member of the Mount Thomas team and is about Maggie's age. Maggie and Wayne attended the police academy together and dated for a while.
