Music Of Norway
Much has been learned about early music in Norway from physical artifacts found during archaeological digs. These include instruments such as the lur. Viking and medieval sagas also describe musical activity, as do the accounts of priests and pilgrims from all over Europe coming to visit St Olaf's grave in Trondheim. In the later part of the 19th century, Norway experienced economic growth leading to greater industrialization and urbanization. More music was made in the cities, and opera performances and symphony concerts were considered to be of high standards. In this era both prominent composers (like Edvard Grieg and Johan Svendsen) and performers combined the European traditions with Norwegian tones. The import of music and musicians for dance and entertainment grew, and this continued in the 20th century, even more so when gramophone records and radio became common. Norway In The Eurovision Song Contest 1993
Norway was represented by 16-year-old Silje Vige, with the song "Alle mine tankar", at the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 15 May in Millstreet, Ireland. "Alle mine tankar" was chosen as the Norwegian entry at the Melodi Grand Prix on 6 March. Before Eurovision Melodi Grand Prix 1993 The final was held at the Chateau Neuf in Oslo, hosted by Ingunn Kyrkjebø. Eight songs took part with the winner being chosen by voting from eight regional juries. Other participants included three-time Norwegian representative and MGP regular Jahn Teigen, the previous year's singer Merethe Trøan, and Tor Endresen who would represent Norway in 1997. At Eurovision On the night of the final Vige performed last in the running order, following Israel. Rohey Taalah
Rohey Taalah (born 1993 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian soul and jazz singer. Biography Taalah studied music at Toneheim Folk High School (2012–13), before attending the jazz program at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (2013–16). She was a member of the Norwegian future soul quartet Rohey. They have toured extensively throughout Norway and Scandinavia, visiting most festivals and venues on the road. Rohey released their debut album ''A Million Things'' in 2017 on the label Jazzland Recordings. Fredrik Halland
Fredrik Strand Halland is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer based in Los Angeles. Early life Born in Bergen, Halland began playing the guitar at a very young age. When he turned 9, he started taking lessons from guitarist Mads Eriksen, who first introduced Halland to the Blues. At twelve he performed a Stevie Ray Vaughan classic from ''Texas Flood'' in a Norwegian talent competition; in 2007 he was awarded the City of Bergen's talent prize; at 16 he won the Notodden Blues Festival contest for blues guitarists. He soon had over 100 live performances, including at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. Eline Thorp Steffensen (born 6 September 1993) is a Norwegian singer and songwriter from Hamarøy, Nordland. She received national attention when she was titled this week's Urørt in 2011. The same year she played at festivals like by:Larm, Hove Festival, Slottsfjell Festival and the Bukta Festival. Debrah Scarlett
Joanna Deborah Bussinger (born 20 July 1993), known professionally as Debrah Scarlett and as of 2019 known under the moniker Red Moon, is a Norwegian- Swiss singer and songwriter. She represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 along with Mørland with the song "A Monster Like Me". She competed on the Norwegian version of ''The Voice'' in 2013. Since 2020, she has been releasing music as Red Moon. Personal life Scarlett was born in Basel, Switzerland in 1993 to Norwegian parents. They returned to their hometown of Nittedal in Norway when she was six years old. She returned later to Switzerland at the age of ten.
