Grand Duke Of Luxembourg
The Grand Duke of Luxembourg ( lb, Groussherzog vu Lëtzebuerg, french: Grand-duc de Luxembourg, german: Großherzog von Luxemburg) is the monarchical head of state of Luxembourg. Luxembourg has been a grand duchy since 15 March 1815, when it was created from territory of the former Duchy of Luxembourg. It was in personal union with the United Kingdom of the Netherlands until 1890 under the House of Orange-Nassau. Luxembourg is the world's only sovereign grand duchy and since 1815, there have been nine monarchs, including the incumbent, Henri. Miss Luxembourg is a national Beauty pageant in Luxembourg. History The Miss Luxembourg pageant has existed since 1927. The winner is expected to become the brand ambassador of the country. The national committee has required the candidates to have Luxembourg citizenship, to be between 18 and 26 years of age, to have a good reputation, to be unmarried, to have no children, to be ready to serve in social and humanitarian actions, and must not have posed for any nude photos. Between 1959 and 1994 the winner represented the country at Miss Universe pageant. Later, Miss Luxembourg is expected to represent Luxembourg at the Miss World competition. The committee has exciting new announcements in 2010. 2009 is the first time after 23 years that a Miss Luxembourg is participating in Miss World. The Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR; lb, Alternativ Demokratesch Reformpartei, french: Parti réformiste d'alternative démocratique, german: Alternative Demokratische Reformpartei) is a conservative and mildly populist political party in Luxembourg. It has four seats in the sixty-seat Chamber of Deputies, making it the fifth-largest party. The party was founded in 1987, as a single-issue party from demanding equality of state pension provision between civil servants and all other citizens. In the 1989 election, it won four seats, and established itself as a political force. It peaked at seven seats in 1999, due to mistrust of politicians failing to resolve the pensions gap, before falling back to four today. United Nations Framework Convention On Climate Change
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) established an international environmental treaty to combat "dangerous human interference with the climate system", in part by stabilizing greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere. It was signed by 154 states at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), informally known as the Earth Summit, held in Rio de Janeiro from 3 to 14 June 1992. The Eurovision Song Contest 1992 was the 37th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Malmö, Sweden, following the country's victory at the with the song "" by Carola. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (SVT), the contest was held at the Malmö Isstadion on 9 May 1992 and was hosted by Swedish journalists Lydia Capolicchio and Harald Treutiger. Twenty-three countries took part in the contest with the returning after being absent the year before. This set another record for the most participating countries in the history of the competition, which would be broken again the following year. The 1992 contest also saw the last participation of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, as they were banned from competing only a few weeks later due to the Yugoslav Wars. Marion Welter (born 1965) is a Luxembourgish singer. When she was 15 years old, she became part of the band Quo vadis. She studied music in a music academy and has worked in several styles of music, such as classical music, pop and jazz. She represented Luxembourg with the band Kontinent in the Eurovision Song Contest 1992 in Malmö, performing the Luxembourgish Luxembourgish ( ; also ''Luxemburgish'', ''Luxembourgian'', ''Letzebu(e)rgesch''; Luxembourgish: ) is a West Germanic language that is spoken mainly in Luxembourg.
