1987 National Soccer League
The 1987 National Soccer League season was the 11th season of the National Soccer League, the former top Australian professional league for association football clubs since its establishment in 1977. The season saw the format returned to a single league of fourteen teams instead of the two-conference system. Sydney City SC withdrew from the competition after round 1, reducing the competition to 13 teams. Peter Raskopoulos (born 22 February 1962) is an Australian former association football player. Playing career Club career Raskopoulos played his youth football for Earlwood Wanderers Football Club, Earlwood Wanderers before being signed for Sydney Olympic FC, Sydney Olympic for the first season of the National Soccer League in 1977. International career Raskopoulos made his debut in a B-International for Australia national association football team, Australia at the 1980 OFC Nations Cup. Robert Dunn (born 6 July 1960) is a Scottish-born Australian former soccer player. Dunn played as a defender in a career that spanned 15 years. Playing career Club career Dunn played in the National Soccer League for Preston Makedonia, West Adelaide and Melbourne Croatia. Alan Edward Davidson (born 1 June 1960) is an Australian former association football player. His father is Australian and his mother is Japanese. Club career Davidson made his senior debut in the Victorian State League in 1976 at the age of 15 playing for Altona City SC which had been his junior club. He transferred to South Melbourne in 1978, where he played until the end of the 1984 season, making 155 appearances and scoring 13 goals. He moved to England for the 1984–85 season for Nottingham Forest F.C. and a promising start where he broke into the first team as a right-back was curtailed by illness after suffering a blow to the head and having a seizure during a reserve game on a very cold night which side lined him till the end of the season. Choi Soon-ho (Hangul: 최순호; Hanja: 崔淳鎬; born 10 January 1962) is a former South Korean football manager and player. International career Choi was named in the South Korean squad for the 1980 AFC Asian Cup. He scored seven goals including two goals against Kuwait, and a hat-trick against United Arab Emirates in the group stage. South Korea met Kuwait again at the final, but they lost this time. Choi became the youngest player to be the top scorer in the history of the AFC Asian Cup at age 18. Chung Hae-won (, 1 July 1959 – 1 May 2020) was a South Korean football player and coach. International career After winning the 1978 AFC Youth Championship as a member of the national under-20 team, Chung played as a left winger or a striker for senior national team. He scored two crucial goals to give South Korea a 2–1 win over North Korea in the semi-finals of the 1980 AFC Asian Cup, sending his team to the final. Kim Pan-keun (Korean: 김판근, born 5 March 1966) is former South Korean footballer.
