Tommy Seebach
Tommy Seebach (14 September 1949 – 31 March 2003), born Tommy Seebach Mortensen in Copenhagen, Denmark, was a popular Danish singer, composer, organist, pianist and producer. He is best known as front man of Sir Henry and his Butlers and for numerous contributions to the Danish qualifier for the Eurovision Song Contest, the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, which he won three times. He was the father of songwriter/producer Nicolai Seebach and singer/songwriter/producer Rasmus Seebach. Biography Musical beginnings Seebach began his musical career as an organist in his own group "The Colours" at age 14. In the following years he played in many pop and beat groups. He played the piano with various orchestras and groups, sometimes going under the name of "Boogie-Woogie-Tommy". He gained mainstream popularity in Denmark in 1965, when he became a member of the band Sir Henry and his Butlers, writing many of their most popular hits. Debbie Cameron
Deborah (Debbie) Cameron (born September 14, 1958 in Miami, Florida) is a Danish-American singer of Bahamian descent who has had a career in music in Denmark. Her career started in 1976, when she was awarded the prize "Most promising student" at the Music School at the University of Miami. In 1978, she went to Copenhagen, where her mother Etta already lived. In 1979 she was a prominent backing singer for Tommy Seebach at his participating for Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 1979 with the song "Disco Tango". She again represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 1981, duetting with Tommy Seebach. Eurovision Song Contest 1981
The Eurovision Song Contest 1981 was the 26th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Dublin, Ireland, following the country's victory at the with the song "What's Another Year" by Johnny Logan. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (RTÉ), the contest was held at the RDS Simmonscourt on 4 April 1981, and was hosted by Irish television journalist Doireann Ní Bhriain. Twenty countries participated in the contest, equalling the record of the 1978 edition. Cyprus made their début this year, while Israel and Yugoslavia both returned to the competition, after their one-year and five-year absences, respectively. Morocco and Italy decided not to participate. Morocco has never since returned to participate in the Eurovision Song contest again, marking 1980 their only ever year of participation. Krøller Eller Ej
Denmark was represented by Tommy Seebach and Debbie Cameron, with the song "Krøller eller ej", at the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 4 April in Dublin. "Krøller eller ej" was chosen as the Danish entry at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix on 28 February. Seebach had previously represented Denmark at Eurovision in 1979, when Cameron was one of his backing singers. Before Eurovision Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 1981 The Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 1981 was held at the Valencia-Varieteen in Copenhagen, hosted by Jørgen Mylius. Five songs took part with the winner being decided by a jury made up of members of the public. At Eurovision On the night of the final Seebach and Cameron performed 6th in the running order, following Israel and preceding Yugoslavia.
