Television In Estonia
Television in Estonia was introduced in 1955, following the Soviet government's decision to establish a television station in 1953. The National TV Channel ETV has maintained an archive since 1955 in which broadcasts of unique aspects of Estonian culture are held. Northern Estonia receives television signals from Finland. During the 1970s and 1980s, Finnish broadcasts were more popular than Soviet-Estonian offerings until the Singing Revolution, with many Estonians enjoying ''Dallas'' and other programs portraying non-Communist lifestyles. Digital television was officially launched on December 15, 2006 when the operator Eesti Digitaaltelevisiooni AS launched its pay service ZUUMtv, operated by Starman, on two multiplexes. In 2006, only ETV was available for free, but as of March 2009, there are already 7 free channels in digital broadcast. Digital television signal ( DVB-T and DVB-H) is broadcast by Levira. Elisabet Reinsalu (until 2012, Elisabet Tamm; born 21 April 1976) is an Estonian stage, television, voice, and film actress. Early life and education Elisabet Reinsalu was born Elisabet Tamm in Tallinn to Tõnu Tamm and Mari Lill, both actors. She has an older sister named Katariina. Her maternal uncle is glass artist Ivo Lill. Tamm graduated from secondary school in 1994 from Tallinn Õismäe Humanitarian Gymnasium. She spent three years studying advertising and media at Tallinn Pedagogical University (now, Tallinn University) before entering the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre's Drama School, graduating in 2002. Külli Teetamm (born 22 May 1976), is an Estonian stage, television and film actress. Early life and education Külli Teetamm was born and attended school in Pärnu. She studied acting at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre Drama School (now, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) in Tallinn, graduating in 1998. Andero Ermel (born 6 August 1976) is an Estonian stage, film, television, and voice actor. Early life and education Andero Ermel was born in Tartu. His father was Meelis Ermel and his mother's maiden name was Uibopuu. He has two siblings. He attended Rõngu Secondary School, graduating in 1994, before enrolling and being accepted into the EMA Higher Drama School (now, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre), where he graduated from in 1998. Kadri Rämmeld (until 2016, Kadri Adamson; born 16 August 1976) is an Estonian stage, film, and television actress. Early life and education Kadri Rämmeld was born Kadri Adamson in Tallinn in 1976. She attended both primary and secondary schools in Tallinn, graduating from the Mustamäe German Gymnasium (Tallinna 54. Keskkool). Afterward, she majored in German studies at the Estonian Institute of Humanities (now part of Tallinn University) and graduated in 1999 from the institute's drama and theatre department. Career Stage Following graduation, Rämmeld was engaged at a number of theatres and worked as a freelance actress, including the Theatrum SA, the Vanalinnastuudio, and Old Baskin's Theatre; all in Tallinn.
