Vilhelm Carlberg
Gustaf Vilhelm Carlberg (5 April 1880 – 1 October 1970) was a Swedish Army officer and sports shooter. He competed at the 1908, 1912 and 1924 Olympics and won three gold and four silver. With three gold and two silver medals he was the most successful athlete at the 1912 Olympics. In 1913, he won two medals at the ISSF World Shooting Championships. Nelly Sachs
Nelly Sachs (; 10 December 1891 – 12 May 1970) was a German-Swedish poet and playwright. Her experiences resulting from the rise of the Nazis in World War II Europe transformed her into a poignant spokesperson for the grief and yearnings of her fellow Jews. Her best-known play is ' (1950); other works include the poems "" (1962), "" (1970), and the collections of poetry ' (1947), ' (1959), ' (1961), and ' (1971). She was awarded the 1966 Nobel Prize in Literature. Life and career Leonie Sachs was born in Berlin-Schöneberg, Germany, in 1891 to a Jewish family. Mikael Ljungberg
Mikael Ljungberg (13 June 1970 – 17 November 2004) was a Swedish wrestler from Gothenburg. He competed for Örgryte IS's wrestling section. Ljungberg was one of the most successful Swedish wrestlers ever. He won World Championship gold medals in 1993 and 1995, European Championship gold medals in 1995 and 1999, and an Olympic gold medal in 2000. In the summer of 2004, the '' Complete Book of the Olympics'' 2004 edition wrongly reported Mikael Ljungberg had been suspended in 1994 for using a banned performance-enhancing drug. This was silently corrected in the 2008 edition of the same book. On 17 November 2004, while receiving care for depression at the psychiatric ward of the Mölndal hospital outside Gothenburg, he committed suicide by hanging himself. His brother reported in interviews afterwards that Mikael was a sensitive person who took setbacks seriously. History The earliest record of what is generally considered to be a Swedish king appears in Tacitus' work '' Germania'', c. 100 AD (the king of the Suiones). However, due to scant and unreliable sources before the 11th century, lists of succession traditionally start in the 10th century with king Olof Skötkonung, and his father Eric the Victorious, who also were the first Swedish kings to be baptized. There are, however, lists of Swedish pagan monarchs with far older dates, but in many cases these kings appear in sources of disputed historical reliability. Cathrine Lindahl
Cathrine Lindahl (born 26 February 1970 in Härnösand as Cathrine Norberg) is a Swedish curler from Östersund. Curling career Lindahl played second for her sister Anette Norberg's team, until they split up in 2010. They won gold medals at the 2006 Winter Olympics and 2010 Winter Olympics. Lindahl skipped a team to both the 1989 and 1990 World Junior Curling Championships, winning the silver medal in the latter, losing to Kirsty Addison of Scotland. The following year, she was an alternate for the gold medal Swedish team skipped by Eva Eriksson. In 1991, she played third for her sister at the World Curling Championships where they won bronze. At that year's European Curling Championships she played second for the team, and won bronze.
