Campeonato Paranaense, which has been contested since 1915, is the top-flight football league of the state of Paraná, Brazil. Format The format has changed in 2014. 12 teams are together in a single group. They play against each other once, and the 8 best teams after the 11 games will play the knockout phase that teams will play against each other over two legs on a home-and-away basis. The last 4 teams will play the Torneio da Morte, where they will play against each other two times (home-away), the best two teams will stay in the Série Ouro, the first division of the football of the state and the two worst will be relegated to the Série Prata, the second division. Americano Futebol Clube, or Americano as they are usually called, is a Brazilian football team from Campos dos Goytacazes in Rio de Janeiro, founded on June 1, 1914. They play in black and white stripes, black shorts and socks. History The club was founded on June 1, 1914 by the Uruguayan Bertoni brothers, after watching a game between America and a Campos combined team, won by 3-1 by the former. The club was originally planned to be named América Football Club, after America of Rio de Janeiro. In 2002, Americano won both the Taça Guanabara and the Taça Rio, but was defeated by Fluminense in both legs (2-0 and 3-1) of the Campeonato Carioca final. The Campeonato Fluminense was the football league of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during the period when the Guanabara state and the Rio de Janeiro state where two separated states. Until 1960, Rio de Janeiro city was the Brazilian capital and was not part of Rio de Janeiro state. In 1960, with the inauguration of Brasília as the new capital of Brazil, the city of Rio de Janeiro became the new Guanabara state. Only in 1975 the states of Rio de Janeiro and Guanabara fused forming present day's Rio de Janeiro state, but the Campeonato Fluminense continued separately until 1978, after which all its clubs joined the city league, the Campeonato Carioca. The Campeonato Cearense is the football league of the state of Ceará, Brazil. Format The Campeonato Cearense has three divisions with the following division and format (as in any other Brazilian soccer championship, the format can change every year): First Division The ten clubs play two legs. The Campeonato Baiano is the football league of the state of Bahia, Brazil. The championship has been played since 1905 without interruption. 2020 format First stage: 10 teams are included in one group, playing once only against all teams in the group. The four best teams qualify to the semifinals, while the last-placed team is relegated to the Second Level. Final stage The four best teams play in a two-legged knockout tie, with the first facing the fourth and the second facing the third placed. The winner of each Semifinal qualify for the Finals, which occur in the same way. The winners of the finals are the champions.
