The 11th Grand National Assembly of Turkey existed from 27 October 1957 to 27 May 1960. There were 610 MPs in the parliament. Kasım Gülek
Kasım Gülek (1905 – 1996) was a prominent Turkish statesman credited with being instrumental in entrenching democracy in Turkey by taking politics to the masses. Biography He was born and lived in Adana, Adana Vilayet, Ottoman Empire, until he went away to school in Istanbul, where he studied respectively at Galatasaray High School and Robert College. He then went on to study at Ecole des Sciences Politiques in Paris, France, followed by Columbia University in New York City, New York, United States, where he received his PhD in Economics. Süleyman Hilmi Tunahan, (1888 – 16 September 1959), was a 20th-century Islamic scholar born in the small Ottoman village of Ferhatlar, also known aVaratlarand today Delchevo in the Razgrad Province, Bulgaria. Süleyman later became a Sufi Master in the tradition of the Naqshbandi Order. Biography Süleyman's father, Osman, was a '' hafız'' ("one who has memorized the whole Qur'an") and a renowned Islamic teacher of his time. Osman had finished his education in Istanbul before becoming a professor at the well-known Satirli Madrasah (theological school attached to a mosque) in Silistre. Süleyman's ancestors include Idris who was appointed by Mehmet II (r. 1451–81) as the "Tuna Khan". The young Süleyman was educated at Silistra Middle School and the Satirli Madrasah. Faik Ahmet Barutçu
Faik Ahmet Barutçu (1894–1959) was a Turkish politician. Biography Born in Trabzon during the Ottoman era, he studied law in Istanbul University. In 1918 he returned to Trabzon to publish the newspaper ''İstikbal'' which was a supporter of Turkish War of Independence. After the Republic was proclaimed on 29 October 1923, he joined the Progressive Republican Party . On 26 March 1939, he was elected as a Republican People's Party (CHP) MP from Trabzon Electroral District. In 16th and the 17th government of Turkey between 10 September 1947– 16 January 1949 (1st and 2nd Hasan Saka governments) he was the Vice Prime Minister. Bergen (born Belgin Sarılmışer; 15 July 1958 – 14 August 1989) was a Turkish singer. She broke the sales record with her album, ''Acıların Kadını''. Bergen has become one of the symbols and faces of violence against women in Turkey with her life and death. Her personal life was influential in her gloomy sound and led to her success.
