Bubbi Morthens
260 px, Bubbi Morthens, Laugardalsvöllur, Iceland (2007) Bubbi Morthens (full name ''Ásbjörn Kristinsson Morthens''; born 6 June 1956) is an Icelandic-Danish-Norwegian singer and songwriter. Aside from a lengthy solo career, he has been a member of such Icelandic bands as Utangarðsmenn and Egó. Personal life Bubbi was born in Reykjavík to a Danish mother and a half-Norwegian, half-Icelandic father. Bubbi is a common nickname for Ásbjörn. He developed a strong addiction to cocaine and alcohol in his youth, later in life he became an advocate for sobriety and addiction prevention. In 2018 he published the poetry book ''Rof'' about the sexual abuse he was a victim of as a child. In 1973 (at the age of 17), Bubbi became a migrant worker. In 2004, the documentary ''Blindsker'' about the life of Bubbi was released''.'' In 2020, a musical based on the life of Bubbi, named ("Nine Lives") was shown in Reykjavík City Theatre. Magnús Helgi Jónsson Bergs (born 27 August 1956) is an Icelandic former international footballer who played as a midfielder. He won 16 caps and scored two goals for the Iceland national football team between 1980 and 1985. During his career he played for clubs in Iceland, Germany, Belgium and Spain. Personal life Magnús was born in the Icelandic capital, Reykjavík, on 27 August 1956, the son of Jón Helgason Bergs and Gyða Scheving. He graduated from the Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík in 1976, and attained a degree in civil engineering from the University of Iceland four years later. Árni Sigfússon
Árni Sigfússon (born 30 July 1956) is the former mayor of Reykjavík, Iceland's capital and of Reykjanesbær (2002 - June 2014). As a city council member since 1986, he stepped in as a mayor in Reykjavík for a few months for his party in 1994 when his party was getting very poor ratings from polls. After his appointment he managed to lead the party to over 47% in the 1994 elections. He was on the board of Heimdallur from 1976 to 1979 and was its chairman from 1981 to 1983. He then later became the chairman of SUS, the youth organisation of the Independence Party. His focus in local government on raising standards of primary education and on new high tech and well paid jobs, has been recognised in Iceland.
