Dutch Television
Television in the Netherlands was officially Timeline of the introduction of television in countries, introduced in 1951. In the Netherlands, the television market is divided between a number of commercial networks, such as RTL Nederland, and a system of public broadcasters sharing three channels, NPO 1, NPO 2, and NPO 3. Corry Brokken
Cornelia Maria "Corry" Brokken (3 December 1932 – 31 May 2016) was a Dutch singer, television presenter and jurist. In 1957, she won the second edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Net als toen", representing the Netherlands. Throughout her career, she scored a number of hits, sang in the popular ''Sleeswijk Revue'' with Snip en Snap, and had her own television show. She was also the presenter of the Eurovision Song Contest 1976, which was held in The Hague, Netherlands, following the victory of Teach-In the year before. She ended her career as a singer in 1973 to study law, after which she became a lawyer and ultimately a judge. Jetty Paerl
Henriette Nanette "Jetty" Paerl (27 May 1921 – 22 August 2013) was a Dutch singer and resistance member of Jewish origin. She is known for being one of the Netherlands' representatives in the Eurovision Song Contest 1956 with the song "De vogels van Holland", and for being the first singer ever to perform in the Eurovision Song Contest. Biography Early life Paerl was born and raised in Amsterdam. After the German invasion of the Netherlands in May 1940, she fled to London with her parents and swimmer Willy den Ouden, where she worked as a children's clothing designer at a shop in New Bond Street. She also contributed to the broadcasts of ''Radio Oranje'', a radio programme created by the Dutch government-in-exile, due to which she became known as ''Jetje van Radio Oranje'' ("Jetty of Radio Orange") in the Netherlands. The Eurovision Song Contest 1956 was the first edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest, organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcasters the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR) and (RSI). The Netherlands held a national final to select the two entrants that Nederlandse Televisie Stichting (NTS), the Dutch broadcaster, would send to the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest in Lugano, Switzerland. Nationaal Songfestival
(; ) was an annual music competition, which was originally organised by the Dutch public broadcaster (NTS), and later by the (NOS) and (TROS). It was staged almost every year between 1956 and 2012 to determine the country's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival has produced four Eurovision winners and eight top-five placings for the Netherlands at the contest. Due to declining interest in the competition and the Netherlands' poor performance in the Eurovision Song Contest in the late 2000s and early 2010s, it was decided that the Dutch entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 would be internally selected. AVRO Studios
AVRO Studios is a building complex and national heritage site in Hilversum, where the radio and TV studios and the head office of the Dutch public broadcasting association AVRO (Algemene Vereniging Radio Omroep or "General Association of Radio Broadcasting") were located until 2000. The buildings have since been used by other companies for different purposes. History The studios were built between 1934 and 1940 according to plans by the architects and . The interior was by Alexander Bodon, who among other things designed the seats in the orchestra hall. The smaller studio 1 is located below studio 2, separated by Melkpad street. Studio 1 from 1936 (with added gatehouse, coffee room and office wing from 1940) and Studio 2 from 1940 have been protected as national monuments since 2002. NOS Journaal
NOS Journaal is the umbrella name for the news broadcasts of the Dutch public broadcaster NOS on radio and television. The division of the NOS responsible for gathering and broadcasting the news is known as ''NOS Nieuws'', and is based at the Media Park in Hilversum; the NOS also has fully equipped radio and television studios in The Hague, from which political programmes are often produced. Arjan Ederveen
Arjan Ederveen Janssen (born 9 September 1956) is a Dutch actor, comedian, TV scriptwriter and TV director. He participated in the TV series '' Theo en Thea'', '' Kreatief met Kurk'' and '' 30 minuten'' and played in the musicals ''Hairspray'' and ''Lang en Gelukkig''. He wrote the play ''Moord in de Kerststal''. Ederveen owns a TV production company, called ''De Toko''. His manager is Evelien Jansen. Career Ederveen studied at the Academie voor Kleinkunst and graduated in 1981. Between 1981 and 1984 he starred as half of the comedic duo ''De Duos'', which he formed together with Kees Prins. He played a bellboy in the Cheech and Chong film '' Still Smokin''' (1983). In 1984 he played the role of ''Theo'' in the children's TV series '' Theo en Thea'' (1985-1989), alongside Tosca Niterink.
