''Johnny Olson's Rumpus Room'' was a 1949-1952 American variety show hosted by Johnny Olson. Broadcast history The show aired at 10 am ET from January 17, 1949, to July 4, 1952, on the DuMont Television Network. The show was one of the first daytime television shows broadcast from New York City to DuMont's small network of East Coast cities. ''Crusade in Europe'' is a book of wartime memoirs by General Dwight D. Eisenhower published by Doubleday in 1948. Maps were provided by Rafael Palacios. ''Crusade in Europe'' is a personal account by one of the senior military figures of World War II. It recounts his appointment by General George Marshall to plan the defense of the Philippines and continues to describe his appointment to, and execution of, the role of Supreme Allied Commander in Northern Europe. The book was dictated by Eisenhower to Kenneth McCormick of Doubleday and Joseph Fels Barnes, former foreign editor of the ''New York Herald Tribune''. It was revised by Eisenhower's aide Kevin McCann. ''Blind Date'' (also known as ''Your Big Moment'') is an American television game show which aired on ABC, NBC, and then DuMont after many years on radio. Format #1 Six men vied for dates with three unseen women by having conversations with them, in a show similar to the future '' The Dating Game''. The men, who were typically either servicemen or college students, were known as the "Hunters" and tried to win a date with the women, known as the "Hunted," for an expense-paid date on the town, which included an invitation to a popular local nightclub. Radio Version In this version, the six men (initially local servicemen) sat on one side of a wall, and the three women sat on the other side. ''The Fred Waring Show'' is an American television musical variety show that ran from April 17, 1949 to May 30, 1954 on CBS. The show was hosted by Fred Waring and featured his choral group "The Pennsylvanians". Synopsis Sponsored by General Electric, the series aired every Sunday night at 9 p.m. after ''The Ed Sullivan Show'', excluding the summer months. It was initially 60 minutes in length, but its time slot was cut to 30 minutes beginning in January 1952. During the 1954 season, the show alternated on Sunday nights with ''General Electric Theater''. Focusing on currently popular music and standard tunes, the show included performances by his orchestra and large chorus, as well as dancing and sketches. ''Fireside Theatre'' (also known as ''Jane Wyman Presents'') is an American anthology drama series that ran on NBC from 1949 to 1958, and was the first successful filmed series on American television. Productions were low-budget and often based on public domain stories or written by freelance writers such as Rod Serling. While it was panned by critics, it remained in the top ten most popular shows for most of its run. It predated the other major pioneer of filmed TV in America, ''I Love Lucy'', by two years.
