British Television
Regular television broadcasts in the United Kingdom started in 1936 as a public service which was free of advertising, which followed the first demonstration of a transmitted moving image in 1926. Currently, the United Kingdom has a collection of free-to-air, free-to-view and subscription services over a variety of distribution media, through which there are over 480 channelsTaking the base Sky EPG TV Channels. A breakdown is impossible due to a) the number of platforms, b) duplication of services, c) regional services, d) part time operations, and e) audio. For the Sky platform alone, there are basically 485 TV channels, additionally 57 "timeshifted versions", 36 HDTV versions, 42 regional TV options, 81 audio channels, and 5 promotion channels as of mid-2010 for consumers as well as on-demand content. John Motson
John Walker Motson (10 July 1945 – 23 February 2023) was an English football commentator. Beginning as a television commentator with the BBC in 1971, he commentated on over 2000 games on television and radio. From the late 1970s to 2008, Motson was the dominant football commentary figure at the BBC, apart from a brief spell in the mid-1990s. Motson often wore a sheepskin coat during winter months after he reportedly "battled horizontal sleet showers ahead of Wycombe Wanderers' FA Cup tie with Peterborough United" in December 1990. These coats became Motson's trademark look, making him instantly recognisable to his audience. In 2008, Motson announced his retirement from live television commentary. Davy Jones (musician)
David Thomas Jones (30 December 1945 – 29 February 2012) was an English actor and singer. Best known as a member of the band the Monkees and a co-star of the TV series ''The Monkees'' (1966–1968), Jones was considered a teen idol. Aside from his work on ''The Monkees'' TV show, Jones's acting credits include a Tony-nominated performance as the Artful Dodger in the original London and Broadway productions of ''Oliver!'' and a guest-starring role in a hallmark episode of ''The Brady Bunch'' television show and a later reprised parody film. Lesley Diana Joseph (born 14 October 1945) is an English actress and broadcaster, best known for playing Dorien Green in the television sitcom '' Birds of a Feather'' from 1989 to 1998 and again from 2014 to 2020. Martin Tyler
Martin Tyler (born 14 September 1945) is an English football commentator. He has worked as a commentator for Sky Sports since 1990, covering the Premier League and UEFA Champions League, as well as other domestic and international competitions. Tyler had previously commentated for ITV in the 1970s and 1980s. He provided his voice to the football video game series ''FIFA'' from 2005 until 2019. In 2003, he was voted the FA Premier League Commentator of the Decade. Ron Jones (6 August 1945 – 9 July 1995) was a British television director. Born in Bristol, he joined the BBC as a studio manager in local radio then became an assistant floor manager on television. After a period as a researcher and item director on ''Blue Peter'' he worked as a production manager on series such as '' Bergerac'' and '' Secret Army''. Martin Lambie-Nairn
Martin John Lambie-Nairn (5 August 1945 – 25 December 2020) was an English designer. He was the founder of his branding agency Lambie-Nairn and was the creative director of branding agency ML-N. He is recognised for having redefined television brand identity design, being the first to embrace computer technologies to apply branding to screen-based media. Lambie-Nairn was also a co-creator of 1980s satirical puppet show ''Spitting Image''. Amongst his most prominent works are the original Channel 4 logo and idents created in 1982, the BBC Two '1991–2001' idents, batch of over 30 idents for BBC Two that first aired on 16 February 1991, the 1997 corporate re-brand for the whole BBC, and the 2008 BBC Regional News titles. Maureen Oldman (born 1 August 1945), known professionally as Laila Morse, is an English actress.
