James Albert Manning Aikins
Sir James Albert Manning Aikins (December 10, 1851 – March 1, 1929) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He was the leader of the Manitoba Conservative Party in the provincial election of 1915, and later served as the province's ninth Lieutenant Governor. Aikins was born in Grahamsville, Toronto Gore Township, Peel County, Canada West (now Mississauga, Ontario) and educated at Toronto's Upper Canada College. His father, James Cox Aikins, was a prominent Canadian politician, serving as a cabinet minister from 1869 to 1873 and 1878 to 1882, and serving as Manitoba's Lieutenant-Governor between 1882 and 1888. The younger Aikins was educated at Upper Canada College and the University of Toronto, receiving his B.A. in 1875. Sir Charles Fitzpatrick (December 19, 1851 – June 17, 1942) was a Canadian lawyer and politician, who served as the fifth Chief Justice of Canada. He was born in Quebec City, Canada East, to John Fitzpatrick and Mary Connolly. Murdoch MacKinnon (March 15, 1865 – October 12, 1944) was a Canadian politician and served as the 11th Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island. MacKinnon was born in Brooklyn, Prince Edward Island to parents of Scottish descent, Lauchlin MacKinnon and Mary MacDonald. He received his higher education from Prince of Wales College and then became a farmer. On October 21, 1914, he married Perle Beecher Taylor, and together they had one son. Augustine Colin Macdonald (June 30, 1837 – July 16, 1919) was a Canadian merchant and political figure. He represented King's County and later King's in the House of Commons of Canada from 1873 to 1874, from 1878 to 1882, from 1883 to 1887 and from 1891 to 1900 as a Liberal-Conservative member. Macdonald served as the tenth Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island from 1915 to 1919. He was born in Panmure Island, the son of Hugh Macdonald, a Scottish immigrant, and was educated in Georgetown and Charlottetown. Lionel Herbert Clarke
Lionel Herbert Clarke (July 20, 1859 – August 29, 1921) was a Guelph-born businessman and the 12th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Canada. In 1911, he was appointed the first chairman of the Toronto Harbour Commission The son of William Clarke and Clara Piggott Strange, he was educated in Port Hope. In 1891, Clarke married Anne Clara Gertrude Small. In 1893, Lionel partnered with "barley king" Wilmot Deloui Matthews as L. H. Clarke and Company, malt dealers, then in 1900 they established the Canada Malting Company Limited of which Clarke became president in 1908. Clarke was appointed lieutenant governor November 20, 1919. Diagnosed with stomach cancer, Clarke died at Government House, Toronto. John Strathearn Hendrie
Sir John Strathearn Hendrie (August 15, 1857 – July 17, 1923) was the 11th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario from 1914 to 1919. John Hendrie was born in 1857 in Hamilton, Ontario and was educated at Upper Canada College. He became a railway contractor and promoted the Hamilton Bridge Works. In 1885 he married Lena Henderson. He was Mayor of Hamilton, Ontario from 1901 to 1902. He was then Member of Provincial Parliament from 1902 to 1914, where he held the positions of Minister without Portfolio and Hydro-Electric Commissioner. He joined the Hamilton Field Artillery in 1883 and later commanded the 2nd Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery (of the Canadian Militia) until 1909. Hendrie was appointed Lieutenant Governor of Ontario in 1914 and served until 1919. Much of his time in Office was spent helping the War Effort and hosting soldiers, seamen and dignitaries. MacCallum Grant
MacCallum Grant (May 17, 1845 – February 23, 1928) was a Canadian businessman and the 12th Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Born at Loyal Hill (in the area of Summerville) in Hants County, Nova Scotia, the son of John Nutting and Margaret (MacCallum) Grant, Grant was educated in Newport, Nova Scotia. He commenced his business career with S. A. White & Co, in 1873. He was a member of the firm Black Bros. Co. from 1875 to 1893. He then formed the firm Grant, Oxley & Company. Grant, Oxley & Company merged with Alfred J. Bell & Co. Ltd. in 1964 and still operates today under the name of Bell & Grant Insurance. In 1899 he was appointed as Imperial Consul of Germany in Halifax. From 1916 to 1925, he served as Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia.
